Team Fortress® 2 (TF2) - Tips, Tricks etc

look at your time played stats, it will show you how much time you have played as each class. simply, the class with no play time = the one you need to play.

And if you've tried out all the classes? See that's the problem, the award is something like play a whole round with each class.

I'll just have to start with a scout and work my way along until I get the last one :(

Doesn't the spies speed change depending on disguise?

As if you had a spy disguised as a Scout, moving the same speed as an engineer it'd be hugely obvious.

I believe the spy can move slower than it's own speed but not faster. It's actually pretty obvious if you see a spy moving around disguised as a scout because the legs look completely wrong ;)

yup, thats why i never disguise as a scout, nor a heavy, as as a scout you move at normal speed, which is far to noticeable, and as heavy you move to slow to do any damage.

my fav strategy is to cloak as i'm going into enemy territory, enable the camo as either engineer or pyro, when far enough back, switch to sniper (make sure you're alone) and then hunt down snipers/engineers

Yes the spy will slow down (but not when stealthed) to the speed of the target they are disguised as. People may say that a spy scout is obvious but i seem to get most kills disguised as a scout, i use that or pyro/sniper to stay reasonably quick

a lot of it is situation dependant, you'll do best if you use one class to get to near where you want, then switch in to a different more relevant class to do what you want to do.

Something I didn't realise for a while: the longer you are scoped as a Sniper, the more powerful your shot will be.
Yeah, I'm not sure what the difference between a quick-shot and a fully charged-shot is damage wise but I don't think it makes any difference if its to the head as either will be an instant kill. Perhaps a charged-shot will kill some classes even if it hits their body?

"Cmon, just stick you head out one more inch!"

A charged shot from a sniper rifle will kill a fair few classes in one shot even if you hit them in the body - including other snipers which makes things more interesting!

A fully charged (non head) shot will take out:

Scout/Sniper/Pyro/Engineer/Medic/Demoman/Spy/Teleporter/Dispenser/Level 1 Sentry.

A (quick) headshot will kill every class apart from the Heavy - a headshot on a heavy needs to be around 25%+.

I have an odd question - it seems in a recent patch the Spy was changed so that he didn't take on the speed of the class he was disguised as. It used to be the case that as Spy you could mask as a Scout and get across to the enemy a lot quicker (and make cloak more effective) then disguise as whatever you originally wanted to be.

Now the Spy seems to move at a uniform pace (which is good in my opinion from a balance point of view). However, a Spy disguised as a Heavy moving too fast, or a Scout too slow would surely be a big giveaway wouldn't it? How is the movement speed perceived by the enemy?

EDIT: Oops, already touched on - should read the thread in full really :)

afaik the spy could move at spy speed, or slower, but not faster, as has been touched apon

Theres a couple of options that may be worth checking out, a minimal HUD and also a way to increase your FOV. . .

Just got told how to enter 'Spectator Mode' so thought I'd pass it on.

To switch to spectator mode, hit the key bound to team select (possibly "." no idea otherwise, check your options) then click the TV in between the team coloured doors.

It was right in front of me all the time but for some reason I didn't see it! :o
