Update thread

Its an accident. Accidents happen.

I hit you with my bike, it's an accident right?

would you just take it on the chin? finding a new job as you're that messed up you can't work?

i suspect not.

suing over a hot apple pie is daft, but this is what the law is there for, genoune cases.

climb of your soapbox mate, you look daft up there.

I don't like 'compensation culture' either, but this isn't an example of it. The bloke lost his job because he couldn't work due to his injury, he's hardly just moneygrabbing.

So if you have an accident, someone else is at fault, you'll just not work, sink in to debt, possibly lose your car or even your house - because 'accidents happen'?

Nice one. Have fun with that.

I smashed my two front teeth when I was younger because some indoor goalposts were not correct tied to the wall and have had to put up with a lot of painful dental work and costs to get them right.

Its never even crossed my mind to sue.

I can think of countless other examples too.

I'll keep asking til you answer.

Ill put this in terms you can understand (guessing from your sig), lets say a nice man ACCIDENTLY plows his car into yours, smashing it to bits. Complete write off. Sure its just an accident, no need to go claim on his insurance, oh wait, he doesnt have insurance. He accidently forgot to renew it the day before he hit you. Sure its grand, tis an accident.

Glad to see that you're getting some compensation out of this. Looks like liability turned out a lot easier to prove than we all thought it would be! Nice bit of luck for you there (although yes the whole situation is an unlucky one).

So penski how did the case go - you never updated the next day!

By mistake. Thread URL was quoted to me by a friend.

Charmed that you feel the need to discuss me but seriously, get over yourself.

As for a follow up, we declined the second offer (about half of my LOE) and noted that we would proceed with matters via the courts. Two hours later they called my man back and made an unconditional offer of LOE plus a tidy little sum which we accepted.

Then I would simply claim on my insurance.

Again I wouldn't have the same issues. I have adequate insurance to cover most eventualities. Plus I doubt I would lose my job and if I did it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Don't flatter yourself I think. Why do I need to get over myself? Somebody simply posted a link to your 'toilet thread' in a discussion channel and the conversation changed to your sueing. I replied thinking it was a current thread ;)

Not everybody can afford to lose their income. Mortgages, rent etc

Exactly. This is why people are different, and need to respect each others views on various issues, so we can all get along without this uneccesary drivel. AFAIC Penski did the right thing given the situation, circumstances and outcome.

If the same happens to someone else and they decide not to follow it up, well fair enough. Just wait until it happens to someone else and they'll do the same anyway, if they survive!
