Half Life 2: Orange Box

Well I took the plunge and bought it.

My god its even better than I remembered. Perhaps one of the few games that I will play through again and still be engrossed just as much as before.

the gfx are weird. they look better at a distance than they did on my pc but up close they are pretty bad, where on the pc they still looked good close up.

still, look great and it's so nice revisiting city 17 :)

The best value game out on the xbox360 IMO

Still undecided on whether I like Portal or not, seems good for some short sessions but can't see myself playing it for more than 15 minutes at a time.

Loving TF2 though :) Haven't had the chance to play it that much but certainly a good laugh IMO

i might have to bite the bullet and learn to use the dpad for FPS. Will i be dissapointed graphics wise after playing HL2 on an average spec pc?

Just a question about your TV, i have the 32".

Are you running through component? When i run some games through component at the moment i get banding lines accross the tv.

Does this happen to anyone else with a R74?

Josh

I have a R73 (same as R74 except trim) and I get banding lines when I have both the 360 (component) and the PC (VGA) on at the same time and sometimes with just the PC on, so I'm not sure what is causing it.

Hmmm, its strange, even if i have just the xbox plugged in it does it. Its dependent on games though i have found, some games do it other dont, or i just cant see it on those games.

I'm quite disappointed, not with the actual game itself as I've not played it....

I expected it to be presented in an ACTUAL orange box. :(

Like slambo, I've bit the bullet and picked this up today.

Traded in some games for it though, but still didn't get enough to cover the cost of the game! was pretty miffed, but they were games I don't play anymore. Trade in values suck these days.

Anyway, immensely pleased with TOB...it's a great package. Particularly enjoying the original Half Life 2 (I've never played it having finished the first one!) and Portal.

Finished HL2 early this afternoon, and absolute joy to play again and brought back so many good memories of playing it on a PC.

I can NOT see what is wrong with the graphics, even todays standard, I think HL2 on the 360 is on a par with some other titles out there. FarCry, Prey, it wipes the floor with them, the only FPS that I think is better is Bioshock, which isn't exactly the best FPS out there anyway!

Portal is incredible, God knows where I am but I've left the "gaming arena" and am now behind the scenes, it's funny, it's intuitive, never seen anything like it, it's great.

TF2 is just the right size for me, and with the size of the maps, I think anymore than 16 players would be rubbish. It's a good laugh, graphics are wonderful, sound incredible, it's just 'fun'.

Now playing Episode One, which I've never played before on any platform so this is new grounds for me. Encounted a bit of slowdown and a bad artifact in the reactor which confused me a little, but other than that, still flawless.

Your going to love every second of it if you have never played Half Life 2, in sense it is more of a bargain to you as it was to me. Playing through episode 2 at the moment, stunning!

i've just done that ravenholm level with just the mavity gun, that was a laugh. i think i killed over half the zombies with the same radiator :D

running round in circles on the roof with 2 fast zombie things waiting for the basket took ages, lol

Do you think it would be worth purchasing if I completed HL2 and episode 1 on the PC? Its a pain as I have sold the PC and now wanna see episode 2 and just wondering is it worth getting
