Aww Bless!

I have a fan!

3.825ghz first I'm still tweaking bios

Take it out your sig then until It's stable...(Like the lecture you gave me a while back when I put a non prime stable clock in my sig ;))

"Your PC can't compute prime data"

8 hours prime stable or you may aswell pull the other one mate.

You my friend have just showed your age!

Only thing I have showed is you, UP.

Karma has come to bite you once again Easy.....

I aim to please :D, back on topic now, 8800GT what time are these going up for sale on the site?

Im too lazy to trail through 10+ pages of crap.

Never seena bottleneck that bad, the GTS is way ahead of the 2900 so wow one big bottleneck :o.

I would sell your 2900 and get an 8800GT but will your mobo support it? and any point if you got bottleneck?

Did you mean GTX as it's a m8's GTX I'm using/testing just now?. And yes, the bottleneck is terrible for a 2900Pro overclocked to be scoring 100 odd points more than a stock GTX . It's not the best for my system to be running like this :( but christmas is close and I have a LOT to spend this year so a system upgrade has to wait till Jan/Feb 2008.

As for my motherboard supporting it. Very doubtful but I can't see PCI-E 2.0 to not be backwards compatible as that will render most boards out there useless for the new cards. As for the point I forgot to mention I use a CRT with decent resolutions mainly and my LCD is only for entertainment now.

Tbh jd if your system is holding back a 2900 and a gtx then no point in getting a gt either as that will have the same problem save yourself the hastle and wait till the upgrade next year when you will see a real boost in performance especially if you put in a next gen card.

I forgot to mention that I have a CRT monitor. It does 2048x1536 @ 79Hrtz. Surely that would remove the bottleneck?. Time for some uber resolution 3dmark and game testing. What a noob I am for not even thinking about that in the first place :o :o.

I did notice UT3 @ 1600x1200 was a bit smoother on the vehicle CTF match map (forgot the name) but it was still showing my CPU power limitations and I played for 10 minutes tops. No reading of the hard disk so my memory was holding up but then again, crappy textures for the demo. I think a decent card at high resolutions could warrant a change on my new Pro. Especially if a peach of a card emerges :D.

I'll need to have a play about with higher resolutions, IQ and some more games for this GTX. Also this O/S is old and needing refreshed which would give a better result. Using this GTX with higher resolutions should give me the information I need. If I do have to lose my card then I have a 3700+ SD @ 2.9Ghz / 1gb DDR and a Sata 2 HD with a 9800Pro to play with till new cards start raining down. Sold my m8 my old x1900xt and PSU for £80.

Thank you both for the replies :).

Hats off to those who acted fast and offloaded in the mm would have done myself if i had a backup card.
The good news is i look forward to paying £150 for a second hand gtx though.

why would you buy a secondhand GTX for a £150 when you yourself proclaim that the GT is a GTX beater at only £140 :p, also I think you'll still get a pretty decent price for a GTX if you sell it on the bay for a few weeks yet, theres allot of ignorant people out there willing to part with their cash :D.

Show me where i have said the gt beats the gtx ?

I don't proclaim the GT to be a GTX beater anywhere i proclaim it to be near the GTX going by benchmarks seems around 10 fps slower.
So £140 for a gt or £150-£160 for a GTX 2nd hand is a no brainer.

I wouldn't hold your breath the gts's i see certain members doing theirs on there don't seem to be doing so well :D ignorant people do not buy high end gpu's on ebay as often as you might think, i am already seeing superclocked 640mb cards going for £180 on there and 320mb gts's going for £140 people aren't as stupid as you think these days.
The idea that there is a limitless stream of the ill informed buying gts and gtx cards on there doesn't hold water.:D

What's great about evga and bfg is you can just keep hold of it and get a much better rma card when they no longer stock the gts/gtx cards.
Gotta love 10 year and lifetime warranty's.If i can't sell mine i will keep it until the true next gen buy the next gen keep this as backup card until i am certain when i rma it they'll have to send me a better card and so on so way i see it i cannot lose.

And some jester on here registered as a new bayer and sent me a question on the bay "since the new 8800 gt is out on Monday for £140 and it will **** all over your card, would you take £90 for your card to get rid of it before it's worthless?"

Well, decision is easier for me, as i need a full upgrade.

Been trawling through loads of threads over the last few days, and its seems that whilst this GT card is causing many a debate from current 8800 owners, it seems a no brainer for a new build. I was due to order parts for my new build a bit ago. Seems for once, I may get lucky by waiting.

One thing i do know, I am looking forward to a significant jump compared to my P4/6800 setup :D

Final nail in the coffin for my P4 sytem came last night. I downloaded the Sega Rally Revo demo. It ran like crap. Even low settings and 800 x 600

Demo runs very, very well on our Vostro. At this point, the missus turns round and says, You better upgrade your PC then. :D:D:D

what will the increase be upgrading from a 512 mb x1800xt?

Seems like the gt will be the next bang for buck card :D

Your CPU will hold you back unless you start pushing 1680x1050+ with your resolutions.

My dual core @ 2.8Ghz is a bottleneck for my 2900Pro but at higher resolutions the card takes over and games get less CPU dependant.

The GT from speculation looks amazing for the price and it's only a few days till we find out if the leaked benchmarks have been accurate.

upgrading to a new quad core build soon ;)

I can't see the point in spending a ton of cash until the dx10.1 cards come out:)
