I am not the "cable guy" :) 3Ghz at the moment, thanks to your advice you helped save me some lolly and I got some extra processing power thrown in:)
The tuniq is a beast, and is almost as loud as my Xbox360 (actually, no nothing save a 747 jet engine is that loud).

Really? In my experience the Tuniq is pretty quiet. Perhaps you could experiment a bit with fan voltages.

No seriously it's no louder than my 7800GTXOC fan, if I up it to full speed I can hear the pitch change over the gfx fan I am only running @ full for benchies. For every day use I will turn it down to half speed. Do you need modded adapters for fan voltage adjustments or is it something you can do from the bios or uGuru?

You might be able to use µGuru or SpeedFan. Check it out. If not you could always 7V mod the electrical lead.

A V1000 question. Do you run your back fan as exhaust or intake, as it came from the factory? Which way does your Tuniq blow?

Be sure of that. Most, including mine, came with the rear fan as an intake. You could be cutting your cooling efficiency if the Tuniq and the rear fan are fighting for air. :)

Now you mention it, when I emptied out the case yesterday I had to hoover the "outside" filter of that fan? There doesn't feel like a great deal of flow coming out of it. Is yours very definitely blowing out Billy? I'll check this in the morning.

Mine does not blow out. It takes air from outside the case and draws it in, past the CPU cooler on its way forward. In the V1000 the front and back fans are both intakes. The versions with the side vent have the side exhaust.

It's debatable over if this is a good design or not so feel free to experiment with it.

I have the V1000 Plus case. It comes with another fan that sits above the exhaust one. This blows air in over the gfx card. I may have a play tomorrow. My cpu temp is 57c with a 3.0Ghz o'clock with prime running. It idles about 35 --40c.

Judging from your photo you've got the rear fan bringing air into the case, since most fans blow toward the manufactuer sticker. If the Tuniq is blowing air from front to back I bet you could be running a lot cooler if you switch the direction of its fan. 5 degrees under load would be nifty. :)

hold a post-it note, or any other piece of paper, near the fan - pretty simple test to see the air-flow.
