The Witcher-Official Thread

im kinda stuck, i just banged abigail and the whole village wants to kill her... i dont know which path to take do I save her or let her die... :(

edit: I saved her...

also the quest The Ghoul Contract, I have completed but the whole inn has deserted  how am i meant to complete it :o

also guys a major question im kinda stumped at........I have other weapons on me (that I cant use witcher combat moves with) i rarely use them, mobs always drop them but i cant pick them up (inv full)..???? is there any use for them lol?
I got the same problem but he did head for the city before the attack so you will probably find him later.

I just finished playing the Crysis demo and dare I say it, but I am more impressed with The Witcher regarding immersion and the graphic presentation. I know they are completely different genres of games so I should not be comparing. It is just incredible the art and level design that has gone into it. Don't get me wrong I love the Crysis demo and the engine is far more technically advanced, but it just does not have the same wow factor. For me art will win every time.

The city as in the place where the hairy bear inn is?:o Vizim? sp

elevon sorry to hear about those issues, i hope you quickly resolve them! ;o

Well into chapter 2 but the picture you get after banging Abigail is damn dirty (in a good way).

Did anyone hand her over? I'm enjoying this game so much I can't wait to replay it and make different choices! Seems to be the first real rpg for quite a while.

Good to see that you and those playing are loving it, but the critics, that's another matter. I am at work so I can't read the Eurogamer review but apparently they only give it a score of 70. I don't really get that worked up about scores, but un******..believable. I just do not get it, as most people who have played it are raving about the game. This game is way superior than Oblivion which for some reason is held as the benchmark for RPG,s.

No swearing - Zefan.

I would guess that some people have been 'spoilt' by the amount of combat that more modern watered down rpg's have and they may not have the patience anymore to actually think about what line of text they want their character to say or what has been said to them. There are very few real rpg's around, most of them these days are 'action rpgs'.

Which in itself is no bad thing, but reviewers should be able to make the subtle distinction between genres and judge the game they review on it's own merit's. Not review by camparison, which is generally what the majority of games reviewers do these days.

I'm not saying this is the best game ever, which I feel is a pointless assumption anyway, along with game of the year etc. But for what it's trying to do it has certainly succeded and I love it for that reason :)

We have just released a new patch version 1.1a. The new patch replaces patch 1.1 and corrects a possible blocker bug that might occur in Act5.

"We've tried to fix as many problems as possible and provide a more stable version for the game as quickly as we could, hence the oversight. I'd like to ask everyone who hasn't yet installed the patch or has installed the 1.1 patch to update to version 1.1a." - said Jacek Brzezinski, Project Lead for The Witcher.

Installing the 1.1a patch will not cause any problems with existing saved games.

Really enjoying this so far, possibly the best game i've played since KOTOR.

Oh and I would take the Eurogamer review with a pinch of salt, afterall they managed this.

I'm having a problem with herbalism, i have the book required and THINK i've found the plant that i need to give to the witch, however i can't click on the plant to harvest the flowers. Any suggestions?

The plant is called White Myrtle I and is found pretty close to her shack I think. Have you definitly got and read the right book?
