Crysis DX10 details in XP Hack

i like it, installed vista for my 8800gtx and saw no benefit at all. reistalled xp for better game play and better stablility. Great find i will be hacking my copy of crysis when it finally gets here

I think there is a fair chance that this will be restricted further in the retail release of crysis

Surely no one believed that all the extra effects were actually impossible under DX9 did they? :D It's about marketting Vista, just like you can read quotes from Crytek about how the game absolutely needs quad core and will be CPU bound for most people, which turns out to be total BS since as it happens the game uses little CPU power and a decent dual-core is plenty enough for it.

You're talking about a pre-release demo. It's hardly going to be fully optimised already.

They way people are talking in here I'm surprised we’ve made it past DX1  Technology needs to move on, most of you have got 8 series cards why not use them?

Yeah goes from the 30's to the 20's for me too!

THing is ATi aint yet brought out a optimised driver for the demo or the game itself yet and im sure this will help things! This is great though and another kick in the teeth for poor old vista ;) Only good if it works in the final version however! haha!

No way, I'd have to move from Windows ME and upgrade my ti4200. I'm not buying into the hype, my machine is perfectly capable of running DX10 games, just lazy developers and evil corporations...

;)

Most likely more the case the very high options were disabled in demo version for xp, as on very high things were suspected to chug too much for now with current drivers, who knows. In my case it does chug a bit when action hots up when set to very high on either Vista or XP, on high things are smooth enough.

The difference is we didn't need to buy an entire new OS to use new versions of DX before...

Do you really think XP could have developed any further it’s an aging OS? Vista is the way forward, if MS are using DX10 to push this then so be it.

We need to move on, put your DX10 cards to good use! if not I will ;):D

My address;

.....

:p

I'm using vista dx9 high as it gives me the best performance didn't bother with setting it to very high in the end as it yields worse performance for me in xp than dx10 vista, instead ive enabled very high water and sunshafts in the cvars so I could enjoy those in dx9 on vista. Very high is stunning but I'll wait till the g90's r700's for that. Dx9 high with sunshafts and 3d waves is the perfect balance as it still yields an average 35fps at 1280x1024.

Doesn't run too badly with the very high cheat as long as I don't enable any AA :p

Looks absolutely lovely to boot :D

If the full game runs this well on very high then i'll be muchos happy !

Im a little ****** of about this whole situation...I only bought Vista for the reason that DX10 would only be avalible on that OS, That I was getting some sort of next gen technology. When in all truth, it can easily be done with DX9 and get just as good results visually and performance wise...

I feel so violated

So... why did people have to go to Vista for DX10?

Wonder if someone will file lawsuit?

I know MS are withing their rights to restrict a feature to an OS, but still think someone will kick up a fuss.
They can do what they want, no one is forcing you to buy it. You can't sue someone for failing to provide something that was never promised in the first place.

In america you can sue for anything. You wernt promised the coffee wouldn't be hot but o no a stupid american had to go drink boiling hot coffee and ooo im going to sue you!

One put their cat in a microwave because it didn't say you couldn't amd it died. Obiously this was done on purpose, how cruel to kill your cat a slow painful death of being cooked alive to get money. Should ahve gone to prision and locked away tbh.

For me to get an average of 25FPS which is super smooth I have to turn Post Processing down to medium, which in return I loose the sun rays through trees.

Will this XP hack work in Vista to turn the sun rays back on, if so will it kill my performance again using them?

You don't have to enable all DX10 post processing effects, just the ones you want. You can change any setting individually, so you could set sunrays to 1 (under medium settings [2]) and leave the other settings alone.

I just enabled the 3D water, Sun rays, and Realmaps and I'm getting very playable framerates (high 20's to low 30's)
