Crysis demo – opinions

Spent the last few days messing around with the graphic settings etc.

Sounds like a fun game.

I found the game ran terrible, considering its suppose to be one of the best coded games made. Unplayable FPS at 1280x1024, medium/low no AA/AF. Its a demo after all, so I'll hold my breath until full release.

Its just sad, that i can play COD4 maxed out at 1920x1080 with no problems, and that looks stunning.

i loved farcry so was eagerly awaiting this, its fantastic, ive played the demo around 5 times and each time approached it from a different angle, graphics are stunning, weapons and the nanosuit are really good once you get to know how to use them to there fullest, blazing in with guns then sprinting away to hide behind a rock is priceless,

stunning just stunning, the gameplay matches the gfx imo,i pld the mp demo and didnt seem to like it but loved the sp. dont know if theres more to come or if it was toned down at all, but it ran beautifully at highest everything for me on following rig

core 2 quad @ 2.66
2 x 8800gtx
2gb pc8500

It just felt like another FPS to me. Nothing special tbh.

What made this worse was the fact I spent about 2 hours playing UT3 demo maxxed out then I tried crysis and considering it didn't look any better on my system it ran like a dog.

I would imagine it would look very nice on a more powerful pc but tbh putting it directly against UT3 it doesn't look better by enough to warrent the power requirements.

Gameplay seemed to be farcry basically although as its a demo I would hold out until I have played the full game.

It also crashed completely at random on me numerous times whereas UT3 ran like a charm.

Overall it didn't leave me that impressed if I am honest however I will still play the full game to see what happens I just won't pay full price for it.

I love it. The sheer number of ways in which you can kill people is impressive. My favourite is grab a Korean, Maximum strength then throw off a cliff. Also shoot a barrel, select maximum strength and throw towards some Koreans.

Awesome, a counterstrike/battlefield mix with extra layer of jazz, but I guess we'll have to wait for full game to see if multiplayer has polished enough gameplay, should be fun nevertheless.

I think it can be a bit like MGS, Im playing the demo on delta difficulty. People say they take too many bullets but you need to aim better, headshots with a silencer are still lethal and quick which is perfect combined with cloaking

Good game I reckon, if you set shadows to medium then it runs better. Im at 20fps+, high quality on x1950pro

Not too sure what you mean by it being farcry all over again. Could you elaborate a bit?

I mean, it is technically the sequel to Farcry, so its bound to be pretty similar. It plays like Farcry but with some physics and graphics enhancements...but then, Half Life 2 was half life 1 but with physics and graphics enhancements (likewise episode 1 and 2), yet everyone raved about those.

Personally I was expecting a kind of souped up farcry, which from what I have played so far is what it is, so I'm quite content :)

I fail to see how people can say its a remake of Farcry as a bad thing :/
Farcry was an awesome game, It was better than HL2....

The gameplay in Crysis is better than Farcry due to the more flexibility the suit gives you. Its leagues above HL2s tactics being spray till it dies, or shoot it with the grav gun.

I found it quite crap really, its just like farcry which was gonna be pretty obvious from the start, but it takes like half a clip of bullets to kill one guy.....whats that all about...i hope they fix that in the full game.
CoD4 now thats a great game and deffo worth my pennies when it comes out, atleast you can kill what you aim for with like 1-2 bullets :)

Precisely. I love the sheer amount of ways you can kill people and approach an objective. I mean cod4 is a generic on rails linear shooter where enemies keep respawning till you reach a certain part of the map. I'll play Crysis instead thanks.

Its pretty good some of the damage modelling is very weird though, grab a korean and throw him he can hit the ground and get back up. Throw him into water though and its instant death. Kinda reminds me of bf2 and the vehicles all being allergic to touching water.

Not that happy with the performance, with some luck it'll improve through drivers and patches.
