The physical age of anime females vs the age they are meant to be is actually a long running joke among manga and anime fans.

The market manga and anime is aimed at is young men and the fact of the matter is the market wants young women.

The Japanese obsession with youth and beauty ( And the numerous Hentai's and Lolicons) doesn't help the situation.

Also it seems to me that most Japanese women age terribly.

I agree however that adults should be represented in a more mature fashion.

Unless of course they are a Widow, are a guardian for a young main character or manage a apartment complex and they become even more attractive ... the rather strange Otakus can keep the 18 year olds which look like 14 year olds, I'll have these ones ... :D

Why do i always forget the widows?

And I know a few girls that look much younger then they are but the sad fact is thier mental age is about the same. Dence, vacuous and self absorbed.

Mature, intelligent and dirty ***!

TRSI have redesigned their website and it's horrid. :(

It looks all cheap now, I preferred the old style.

I've just noticed they canceled Burst Angel 4 from my order even though it was reserved so I've got to buy the UK version now. At least I can get it for £7 so it isn't too bad.

On another note MVM have Requiem from the Darkness and Texhnolyze at £4.99 a volume (the vol 1's are £1.99) on their website. Cheap prices and they are Geneon releases in the US.

I was wandering around a certain popular auction site earlier, (and spending far to much in the process ), and saw one of the most obvious anime items for sale of dubious authenticity ... CardCaptor Sakura, a fairly long series right, (Wikipedia agrees with item and says 70 episodes) ... number of disks ....... two . That's right, 70 episodes on just two disks.

Some poor person will buy it and be totally ripped off ...

.... of course it doesn't say it has Chinese subtitles so it could be genuine ... erm no...

Those sites tend to be full of such items, I once saw an item that explicitly stated "burned on good quality CDR"

I've made a start on watching Noien and i'm really enjoying it, the music reminds me a bit of some of the Ghibli films.

EL and FMA are good, i've not seen Death Note though.

I've just finished Noein which was very good, a bit confusing at times, but i really liked it.
Next up is either Haruhi (disk 4 shipped last night), FMA or possibly the first disk of Tsubasa.

I finished watching R.O.D. the TV earlier this evening ... absolutely excellent series. I think its one of the best I have seen in a while with a great combination of action and character inter-relationships. I thought the OVA was good but I think the series is even better. :)

Unfortunately the number of DVD's purchased this week is greater than the number watched hence the "too watch" pile has got bigger ....

Next, well its a bit of a toss up ... I normally have two series "on the go" at any one time and I'm thinking Paranoia Agent as one for a change of pace but the other is probably going to be Maison Ikkoku, (although the line of DVDs is a bit intimidating), or I may just zoom through the second season of Super Gals ... (as a mental "rest")

I find when i've got a backlog of DVD's it helps to vary what i'm watching a bit to prevent me getting fed up :)
So i'll try and go comedy/action etc rather than go from one series straight to another of a similar type.

I'm having a bit of a rest from anime for a few days at the moment, instead of FMA etc i'm watching a few live action disks.

Whilst I remember, ADV UK have updated their offers again, although not a great number of very cheap disks (most are a fiver each).

I gave up on Maison Ikkoku, the whole idea of watching such a long slice of life series didn't excite me so I flogged it. I really have no idea why I thought it was the sort of series I would be interested in in the first place. I chalked it up as one of my "buy anime because it's there" buys.

On a related note is Ai Yori Aoshi, AYA Enishi worth watching? Is it a harem comedy, slice of life comedy or just slice of life, I really can't decide whether to sell mine or watch them.

EDIT: @memyselfandi You didn't buy from ebay did you? Just wondering as the bloke who bought my Maison Ikkoku set also bought Super Gals season 2 and lives in Nottingham?

If you sold it this week then going by user ids there's a good chance you sold it to me, (I like slice of life series) ;)

I would class Ai Yori Aoshi as harem comedy although gentler and more romantic than something like Love Hina. It does have some darkness in the male characters back story though. Enishi ... I was a bit disappointed with this ... it continues the story but I didn't really feel it added that much to the plot or act to conclude things very well. I would say that AYA is one of my favourite series and I have watched it quite a few times. The manga is very good too.

HA, I thought so. :D

I had a Rumiko Takahashi phase where I bought all her stuff I could, then never got round to watching any of it. I did read the Mermaid Saga manga though which wasn't too bad. The only thing of hers that actually interests me is Ranma 1/2 due to the comedy, as Inu Yasha is apparently too long and doesn't reach a decent conclusion.

Still it's my own fault for building up a "to watch" list that numbers in the hundreds of discs.

I've got the first 8 volumes of the AYA manga so I'll have a peek at them and see what I think. Is it pretty similar to the anime?

From what I remember, (its been a while for the earlier volumes), the AYA manga has some differences with the anime and does tend to be a bit more racey than the anime, (which is pretty tame as anime goes). The general plot seemed the same from what I remember and the differences that spring to mind were fairly minor. The full 17 volume manga series takes the plot further than the anime series does to.

I would note that I disagree with the tone of some of the plot overview for this series in the Wikipedia article about it.

Managed to get steamboy and some anime called Spriggan. Both look good, anyone heard of spriggan before? Also has anyone got any opinions on the old anime i saw on channel 4 many years ago named Doomed Megalopolis? I remember it being strange but nice and doom and gloom (my fav types) and was thinking of lookin for it. But cant remember that much as its been about 10 years about since i saw it i think.

Just finished watching R.O.D the TV and really enjoyed it, did laugh at some of the ridiculous English names though :D

Going to watch Gankutsuou: Count of Monte Cristo or season 3 of Rurouni Kenshin next.

Doomed Megalopolis rings a vague bell, I think it showed n C4 as part of the "Late License" slot (same slot as 3x3 eyes and a number of others), but i can't really remember anything else about it.
I think it was shown around the same time as Monster City and Wicked City?

Sci-Fi did the same i think

Spriggan film was disapointing. Animation was terrbile i thought and story had much potential but let down by the animation quality and some characters and settings.

Watched a bit of steamboy. Starts off well and nicely animated and has patrick steward voice in which is nice but duno how i feel about picard from trek in a anime lol.
