Looks like a 'shop to me, the wheels on the middle car on the bottom don't look to convincing...

But I've been wrong before ;)

Three things strike me about these transporters.

1) How on earth do they get the bottom ones on and off?
2) I'd be well annoyed if my car got transported upside down like that
3) What a waste of transporter space if those aren't actual delivery cars.

It's for an advertising campaign. The cars that are upside down have no engine or transmission and are bolted to the upper deck.

yes, there is a press release about it on the Subaru website. It was certainly getting a lot of interest, not sure about the cars though.

It's called ambient advertising and its clearly not a complete waste of time, its creating exposure, its very presence on here means that to some degree its working.

Anything that makes you look twice at that godawful looking car has got to be worth something anyway imo.

I'm aware of the type of advertising it is but I stand by my opinion that it's worthless. The exposure is limited, and even amongst those who are exposed to it and thus share it with others, it isnt the sort of thing which will make much difference. We already knew the new Impreza looked cack but held the road. This advert shows us that.. the new Impreza looks cack and holds the road.

You're talking from the perspective of a car enthusiast, joe public walking past will be intrigued and want to find out more. There's no point advertising a car to people that already know about it and hence have already made up their mind about it.

Yet this advert also makes some of us think...

"What a ****ing waste of transporter space, that'll be more lorries needed on already crowded roads, great, thanks Subaru, you total ****ing ****s"

...which can't be good :p

People with nothing better to do than complain will whine about anything...top gear gets loads of complaints, doesn't stop it being great ;)

Well, it doesn't. It gets like 2 or 3 at most but in TV even a single complaint has to be followed up.

And how many joe publics in the market for a £15,000 4wd hatchback are going to walk past?

Really?

The handling of Richard Hammond's return to BBC Two's Top Gear has been branded ... The charity said it had received 50 complaints via the telephone ...
Top Gear dead cow stunt garners 91 public complaints
The BBC confirmed yesterday that the "vast majority" of the 500 complaints about Top Gear received so far this year related to the caravan report broadcast on 16 July.
