Pret comes up trumps!

Here is one of my first attempts at nori rolls a few months back...

Wow - those look very professional.

I've discussed with my better half and she's in agreement, we'll make some at home. Plus we can make non-raw fish ones for the kids - I think my youngest will love it with cucumber or avocado in - she's a rice <ladyofthenight> as it is ;)

Nearest Pret is like 3 hours from me i think, isn't Pret a Manger a chain from the same people as McDonalds?

Closest fast food sushi for me is either Sainsbury,Tesco or Marks and Spencer, funnily enough Tesco do the best out of them.

From their FAQ:

Is it true you're owned by McDonald's?

In January 2001 the McDonald's Corporation based in Chicago bought a 33% minority stake in Pret A Manger. Their international influence and expertise has already helped in our expansion beyond the UK (something clamoured for by the thousands of tourists who visit our shops each week). McDonald's do not have any direct influence over what we sell or how we sell it; nor would they want to. They have invested in Pret because they like what we do.

Never tried Sushi, the thought of "raw" fish puts me off, but I keep looking at the snacks in M&S and thinking about trying it...

Like someone said, Sushi means rice. And you don't have to eat the fish, take at look at any menu you'll find, rice, noodles in both soup and fried form. Spicy chicken, prawns in breadcrumbs, beef and much much more. The fish part is just a part of it. Discarding Sushi entirely just because of fish is like not eating Italian because you don't like Pepperoni.

Thanks, will try some from M&S tomorrow for lunch :)

No Sushi places around here, just Indians and Chinese, not even a Thai :(

Y'know what? It was delicious; the ginger was juicy. The wasabi was perfect...The sushi itself was divine...

Hehe! Glad you liked it, got some here myself now! Nom nom!

EDIT- The only down side of sushi down here is that it is soooo expensive! It's like 2.99 for 3 Nigiri and 2 small ones. I always look at the £4.99 10 to 12 piece one which i could easily eat but its a bit too expensive.

That large nine-piece one from Pret was £4.99.

There's a Yo-Sushi a few doors down but I don't like their prices.

That doesn't sound too bad, go in Moshi Moshi or Yo Sushi it's about £3.50 a plate which has 2 to 3 pieces anyway. So £5 for 10 is bargain.

When im in Portugal and go to the Sushi Bar out there you can get a 80 Piece Boat for £20! Bargain!

Right amount also!

After reading this last night i thought i had to try some.

I LOVE wasabi so i thought worst case ill just cover it in that :D

I bought some from M+S as i didnt fancy sitting in Selfridges as i didnt
know what to expect.

I was pleasently suprised - although there was no raw fish the stuff we had
was nice!

Will deffo be eating it again :)

My other half loves sushi, but refuses to allow me to make it for her, as apparently its "dangerous" if you don't make it properly -_- (for the same reason, she insists you should NEVER eat sushi from a supermarket as it will make you very ill)

I may just make some anyway, and sit in front of her eating it! anyone know any good sources for fresh fish in Bath? (or know if Sainsburys/Waitrose fish counters are any good?)

She may just be thinking of Fugu all the time after watching simpsons or something!

Yum, just had a mini Sushi box from M&S, was very nice, especially the tuna/rice with sesame seeds.. No wasabi, but some nice Soy sauce with it.
