I'm pretty dissapointed with my overclock... E6600 @ 3Ghz and both my cores have gone up to 23C.....they were 22C this morning ;/
80c is too high, 5c away from the tjunction. Best to keep it around 65c on load.
You need to look at some better cooling, try opening your case and see what your temps are then. If they drop a lot then your case has poor airflow (like mine did).
All i do now is leave side of case off, and have a 12" deskfan on 'low' settings gently moving air into the case....currently running an E6600 @ 3.2Ghz @ 24C idle @ ambient 21C.
Oh btw i also have a thermalright XP120 with a 120mm fan on CPU and arctic silver 5. But tbh the stock cooler was pretty decent too.
Okay, my heatsink came with that thermal stuff already on it so il invest in some better paste and a artic cooler heatsink probably..Like i said test your case cooling first.
Then if thats ok, try re-seating your heatsink on your chip, preferably with some quality heatsink paste.
There are guides on here, and loads on the net to do it if you are unsure.
