Preston is very good.

Wigan which aint a city but a town is decent, cant beat King Street for bars and clubs, get a lot of chavs from around the north going to Wigan Pier.

Manc is an incredible night out. All the best places are right near each other if you're a student. You have Oxford road with some amazing clubs, pubs and bars, and you have the Northen Quarter for some quality funky places and Sankey's just near by. There's a reason the majority of quality music, both electronic and rock, has come from the area. Look harder... the awesome stuff is not that hard to find (hint: The Warehouse Project is a good place to start and set to become yet another Manchester legendary event that you're currently missing out on!)

The only students who would complain are those who don't go out or think that Deansgate and Picadilly are the most lively places (note: they suck hard).

Manc through and through. My favourite city in the country by a good few miles.

If it keeps the Mancs out, then I'm all for it - tbh I'd prefer to be locked in with the prisoners than the scummy mancs! :D

Liverpool is a great night out - my favourite of the lot along with Leeds and Newcastle. Tbh I don't think there's that much between them.

Manchester - I lived there for a while, found it a bit (ok, a lot) pretentious, spread apart a bit too much and very expensive - most of them seemed more concerned with how they look or who is looking at them than they are having a good time! On the other end of the scale it was downright cheap and grotty - they check you for guns and knives on the door and if you haven't got one, then they give you one ;) - there didn't seem to be much of a happy medium.

Didn't think much of Sheffield either but have only been once or twice.
 
Manchester is good if you want to get a takeaway after your night out, but Newcastle kicks it all over in every other department. Leeds is nowt special, Liverpool sucks and I'm surprised that Sheffield even made the top5 list.

Hull?? Are you having a laugh?
 
it's hard to judge how good a place is by one night, i know load sof people who goto leeds and goto oceana on a weekend ten tell me its rubbish. it doesn't matter what city you're in, its the club,music,people that matter.
