until second quarter 2008

Actually I am quite surprised that EA let them delay given their track record.

On the plus side this will mean a more complete game at release, on the minus side I'll probably end up buying the next WoW expansion :(

Well, I don't know what to think about this game really. From all the videos I've seen the PvP looks very dull, the combat system in general just doesn't look very good, especially in comparison to WoW's combat system.

In another article it was said to be canned unless they can find a different company to distribute and maintain it online.

Figured as much, as soon as they announced the beta closing til december I guessed it would be a delay in release.

Not to worry, can always play Age of Conan til Warhammer

WoW was great up until TBC. Still was great to a lot of people and still is but for those who played years before TBC it wasn't really anything new that I can think of. Same grinds, new weopons, new raid instances a new char and some more land to cover.

The next expansion does look like it is offering a better variety of things.

Onto Warhammer I will be suprised to find this game being such a sucess due tot he fact it is very similar to WoW is now, and WoW was released in 2004!

I want something new, not a cloaked version of a 3/4yr old game that was great in its time.

I enjoyed my time in Warhammer beta, and didnt find it much like WoW at all (other than a slight similarity in graphics, which is to be expected given the IPs), happily looking forward to December and the reopening.

Though also keeping an eye on Age of Conan :)

There is a massive warhammer fanbase from the tabletop game, over 10 million people anyway.

Have THQ said anything more about the Warhammer40k MMO? its all been abit quite since it was announced.

Warhammer will be good if DAOC is anthing to go by.

That article is speaking No Swearing! - K. Mythic already run and maintain one MMO and that was before they were taken over by EA.

Half a million beta sign ups would suggest it does have a chance to attract some players.

Personally, I have high hopes for this one due to who is making it.

Damn the misinformation is rife here today.

The next person who says warhammer is just another wow clone will get a slap in the face so hard, their mouth, nose and eye's will be on the back of their heads.

WoW is a clone of Everquest, DAoC and any other MMO you can think of before its time, Warhammer is the decendant of DAoC which was originally released in 2000 by Mythic Entertainment.

The whole Warhammer IP dates back to the 1980's, originating from good old England. Warcraft actually came about through the warhammer universe, they wanted to create an IP that wasnt quiet as hardcore and gritty, While a majority of the character types are similar visually they are a world apart in reality.

Several features will be familiar in Warhammer to WoW players and the same could be said about features in WoW that are familiar to DAoC or Evercrack players, if it works they its gotta be a good thing, but one thing that WoW never did get right was PvP and thats something that will make WoW and Warhammer Online two totally different games.

Warhammer is all about PvP its the naughty step child of DAoC the PvP powerhouse game which got everything right with PvP and only messed up in the PvE which is easily resolved for todays standards.

The delay on release is a good thing, its what most of the beta community wanted, none of us want a game released that isnt finished and with the huge popularity and press its been getting it pretty much has to be perfect, otherwise all the "wow kiddies" will **** it off something chronic.

Warhammer is nothing like wow....

Yay, EA the masters of delay strike again. Next thing there gunna delay crysis the day before the release ! woo !

EA Mythic went to EA and asked for more time, the EA board said yes. How important is Warhammer to EA? Important enough to get a mention in their trading statement. And, it seems, important enough for the developer to have extra time to get it right rather than rushing it. Which seems to be a bit of a novelty in todays world.

Yep, Warhammer is all about the PvP.

You can PvP from level 1, you can actually level up to the maximum level doing nothing but pvp, their will be outdoor pvp, proper pvp with objectives and things to capture etc. not like wow's previous attempt aka the tarren mill run.

You will also be able to do battlefield instances and scenario's to gain pvp honour and experience which all leads to the grand finale of capturing your enemies capital city, which will give you access to some of the hardest instances in the game for some of the best loot in the game. You also get to capture your enemies king/queen which leads to the best loot full stop.

Basically from the moment you start the game, your at war with the enemy even in the pve area, this is apparent in the zone design and quests available to you. There's none of this go kill 50 bears for no reason at all, its go kill 10 bears for their skins to make more coasts for the warriors and more importantly... all 10 bears you kill actually have skins!.

lol, WoW has never tried to be predominately PvP. Blizzard only implemented more than was already there due to popular demand. They said they want to keep a balance between PvP and PvE in the game.

And I wouldn't say WoW's PvP is a 'poor attempt', infact the arena system has pretty much become an e-sport. There's sponsored teams with competitions and cash prizes.
