So what are you getting the missus?

Not sure what to buy my girlfriend. She's got good taste, which means I'll have to put a lot of thought into it. I'd like to get her a painting, but seen as how she's an artist, it would be a bloody hard purchase to make.

Well that’s even easier! :)

She will have her favourites, and then simply researching into what she does you will be able to make an informed decision, but get on it post-haste as it may be a long wait for a print of it to be made/shipped.

My girlfriend is obsessed with Pete Carr (cykey) work and I'm sure she'd like a few nicely framed prints. :)

Snap, except he'll be 11 months, he's 1 on Jan 11th :) Christmas is fun with kids :D

I'm not sure what to expect really - he's our first child - he's gonna get up on christmas morning, have his breakfast and be bewildered all day by the brightly coloured boxes and people in strange hats.

I can't wait for that first christmas morning smile though :)

I know you'd think it easy, but it really isn't. I've narrowed it down to something contemporary, but as I'm a cultural philistine when it comes to art it's going to be nigh on impossible for me to actually choose a painting I think she'll like.

Or I could go for something simpler and get her something to do with rowing (how we met).

Missus is slang for Mrs, Mrs is your wife, not your girlfriend.

I might get my girlfriend some CD's and stuff. I don't have a missus, becuase I've not married her.

Pedant/commitment phobe! :p

Aww, he'll love all the boxes and wrapping paper :p Make sure you take loads of photos :)

There are quite a few galleries in Cambridge you could visit and see if there was something suitable.

Aye I've already started looking, and of all the presents I'm buying (a total of 8 presents for certain people), it's the only one I don't have a clue for.

Fail denied. I'm right, you are wrong, marry her if you are that desperate to refer to her using Northern miners slang ;)

your wrong, he's right

there is no compromise

Think I might get her spa vouchers, she loves all that pampering stuff. Saying that I could get the same for my mum and sister too! Three birds, one stone etc

Agreed! This really gets my goat -_-

I have no idea what I'm getting my gf yet...

I'd really like to get her something nice - like an iPod video or something - rather than a dressing gown and slippers or jewellery.

She travels to uni on the train so that'd be a good chance for her to watch a video iPod, but after hinting to her about it, I don't think she would be interested at all if I got her that :(

I dunno, it's the same every year and she doesn't generally get much for xmas because she never asks for anything!

As someone from deepest darkest South Yorkshire - Missus to me means wife, fiancee, girlfriend or anything of the female persuasion you happen to be attached to in some way.

We've got tons of photos already, about 350 at last count. From him being 15 minutes old to trying to get into the washing machine earlier this week.

I reckon by the end of christmas and new year we'll be over the 500 mark :D

A Nintendo DS. :p

You're wrong, for example the song "Your missus is a nutter" by Goldie Lookin' Chain is a cultural reference of it being used to mean girlfriend. ;)
