Which would you choose, as hopefully by the end of the day I will have to make that choice?

tytn2

played with both in stores couple days ago

the tytn2 (well vario 3) is so sexy to hold, and the touch screen is great
n95 8gb was just like the n95, which i dont like the design of

my advice: go to a couple of stores and hold them both in your hand

N95 8Gb , depends what you like in a handset really, the tytn is too bulky for me and I dont like Windows Mobile (too slow for my liking). Obviously the N95 has better camera and good video functions, GPS and a big memory but the tytn has touchscreen ie has better pda functions - if you want a smartphone go for the N95 8Gb, if you want a pda phone go for the tytn.

theres quite big difference with the original N95 - the build uality is far better - have a look at this vid:

Tytn2 has the far superior GPS module - I wouldnt even list the GPS as a feature of the N95 as its pretty useless (slow to lock on/loses signal very easily)...

@OP - Since you are considering the Tytn2 you must be after something that has some PDA function and if thats the case then its a better choice than the N95 - the proper keyboard makes a lot of difference...

Media usage - N95
PDA usage - Tytn2

Thanks for the input. The N95 looks more normal. I currently have a 8700g and am sick of holding a "calculator" when making calls :D Thats why I am a bit sceptical about the Tytn II.

However I think I will go for it as it seems not that big and should last me at least a while with its potential.

Guru - youd better review it when you get it. Ive never had a WM* phone without a QWERTY keyboard so Id like to see how you find it...

Just seems to be a compromise too far for me as I tend to use email/text more now just because its so natural...

I have just ordered the Vodafone branded Tytn II (v1615). I got it through work and so had to go with Vodafone.

I am now looking to see if I can get a sim with a good data package. It really was a hard choice between the two. In the end I decided that GPS working was better than the N95's photo capability.

Get it tomorrow. I also ordered a Martin Field screen protector which should also help :D

You are supposed to use bluetooth to make calls with pda phones.

Bluetooth headsets outside of a car makes you look like a plonker in my opinion.

Nothing is worse than a 7290 for making calls on (fashion wise) and so the Tytn II should be fine :D

Its a toss up between that and an N95 8GB for me.

I thought a QWERTY keypad would be extremely useful and at first, it was.

Came in handy when emailing, MSN etc.

Fast forward a year and I'm just using it basically as a phone. Sat nav gets used on a regular basis but I don't email and MSN from it anymore.

Its just a pain when you want to walk and text with one hand but can't and also having to carry around that extra weight/bulk.

For me, a handset like the HP would allow me to do that while still retaining full functionality of the windows mobile OS, which I love using due to all the great freeware apps.

Contracts not up until Feb 08 so I'll leave it until then as I'm also tempted to return back to the Symbian OS with the N95 8GB.

If you are uncomfortable with traditional bluetooth handsfree like me, why not get something like the HTC S100 Bluetooth headset? Looks like a pair of normal earphones and it's very discreet.

I didnt know the tytn had GPS too, thats why I listed it as an extra. The N95 when it first came out wasnt so hot, but with AGPS, its lock very quickly and holds particularly well (indeed so well I managed to track a whole flight to Belgium - if you want proof I have it!).

I agree :) - N95 - media and better as a 'phone'
Tytn II - pda usage wins.

I can confirm that Vodafone has shipped a Sim unlocked Tytn II :D

First impressions are good.
