£1k - fairly rapid, suggestions please.

Well considering I'm sat in traffic every morning for at least 30 minutes, I'd say it was fair cop :)

Can you count? :p

Mine does nowhere near that, try 25 at best, low/mid 30 if you drive constant motorway at 70!

Id say if your gonna be tanking it on the NSL section the rover is gonna drink the juice a bit too much...

I pulled up on my driveway at home after the RR with 300 miles on the trip counter.

I'd previously brimmed the tank and the needle was hovering just at the top of the red on the gauge. This had been a mixture of cruising and heavy acceleration on both the trip down and back up.

I'd say that was about 30mpg across the whole tank right there.

Over the past week I've stuck £20 when the needle has dropped to the red. I really don't have a problem getting ~200 miles to that £20.

Mondeo V6. Like an Accord only actually goes fast.

who wants to bet Fox has never driven a H22 powered prelude or accord flat out...

I swear if I made a thread on this forum asking for advice on what motorbike to buy, the first post would be you telling me to buy a Mondeo!

"The answer is a Mondeo. Now what was the question?"

Who wants to bet that the type of Accord you'll get for less than a grand won't have the same engine as an Accord Type R in it?

The 2.2 in the Accords you'll get for a grand is nowhere near the same, it's 147bhp.

Fox is right - the 2.2 in the £1k Accord will be NOT be the H22.

Show me an Accord Type-R for £1k (the only Accord with the H22 engine), and I'll be buying it right this minute.

If fuel is at £1 a litre thats 45mpg or there abouts Andy, you need to brim the tank and then measure the milage you do and then brim it when you fill up and see how much you have used.

Ill get 120 miles to £20 or there abouts, no bloody way your car does 80 miles more than mine to the same amount of fuel!

Commute going OK to Preston, traffic on the ring road seems OK as long as you avoid it counter clockwise around the 61/602 and Trafford centre junction.

Fine, so I didn't pay close attention to the budget. Your response to everything is still a Mondeo though.

you read only what you want to read. if you actually read you would realise that really mondeo's are not suggested all that often, only when it's a valid suggestion. like in this very thread for example...

I usually fill up with Shell Unleaded, 96.9p a litre here. Can't brim the tank at the mo... otherwise I really will get terrible fuel economy ;) (Fox knows why, lol)

Yes bloody way :) Don't believe me, I don't care. I'm the one who drives the thing.

M60 is crap. I filter onto the M61 at J15 (I think) of the M60. M61 is clear all the way to the M6. Get stuck in traffic along the A59.

But surely the answer to my 'what shall I upgrade to question' is, according to you, 'Mondeo'? ;)

Find me a thread where someone with a Mondeo has asked "what shall I upgrade to" and I'll concede ;)

Yeah first of all it was the Xantia.. then you sold that and then it was all about the Mondeo... then you got the BMW so now you vary your responses between the Mondeo and a BMW depending on budget :D
