Do you pull over for motorcyclists?

I do pull over if it is safe to do so.

I do have a bit of a gripe with bikes using gaps in traffic though, only because I moved for one bike in the outside lane and nearly hit another going up the inside. :(

To me, a biker is somebody who is a bike enthusiast. People who simply ride to get from A to B are motorcyclists.

so people who drive cars from a to b arent drivers?

Technically yea, but do you really think things like 'a drivers car' and Dunlops 'drivers know' slogan etc are aimed at them?

no, but the fact remains that people who ride bikes are bikers.

drivers who like driving (as opposed to just a to be drivers) are known as petrol heads. so if drivers have a different name for enthusiasts so should bikers :]

Argue all you like, it won't change the average bikers definition of the word biker.

i agree with that, but outside of 'bikers' a biker is someone who rides a bike, generally.

I'd rather let them through than have them barge through.

They're going to pass anyway, so may as well make it safe as possible.

I've been riding bikes for years & have never even thought whether i was a biker or a motorcyclist.

I'd call myself a biker, only cos it's quicker than saying motorcyclist & doesn't sound so 'stuffy'.

I looked up the definitions:

Biker
–noun 1. a person who rides a bicycle, motorcycle, or motorbike, esp. in competition or as a hobby.
2. Informal. a member of a motorcycle gang.

Motorcyclist
-noun 1. a person who rides a motorbike

Sound the same to me...surely a personal preference no?

Sorry for the thread necro...

Personal Preference, don't know to be honest... i just hate the phrase... your average crotch-Rocket rider that brings out the ZZRCBR600/1100 for a ride on Sunday just is NOT a biker...

@Morba
If you want to try out that "whether you like it or not" schtick for real, have a word in the ear of the next Patch Club member you see... just make sure you have a fellow Internet Geek video it, and post us the YouTube link eh?

I have no idea what your passion is (and that to me is the defining thing about being a biker, not what you ride, although the stereotype i made about Crotch-rocket riders is accurate enough), but there is an analogy for it...

Example... you are a landscape gardener, and I plant a few flowers in the summer... does not make me a landscape gardener does it? and no, it's not any different, just the subject in question

i hate this forum - lost my bloody reply!!

i see, i am now an internet geek. i guess you see me as a keyboard warrior who is really some spod who is small and weak, and cant punch my way out of a paper bag. i better stop posting my opinion on the internet as real men are posting now, and they dont like what i say, im scared of them.

your choice of landscaper and some summer gardener is flawed. for a start one makes money from it as a living, for the benefit of others. a summer planter makes no money and does it for their own benefit. are you telling me that real bikers make a living from riding and do it for the benefit of others?

This biker thing.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I've ridden thousands of miles, on 14 different bikes in 15 years, in all types of weather, snow, ice, sun, wind and rain. Over crap covered fen roads, on motorways, on dirt tracks I've done my christmas shopping on one and ridden back with all the presents stuffed up my jacket and in my back pack, I've baited boy racers, blagged the rozzers when I've been pulled for speeding, I've commuted on one at all hours in all weathers.
I've ridden Race reps, Tourers, Trail bikes, Two strokes, V twins, In Line 4s, a V4 and a couple of bike singles.
I've pulled wheelies, done burnouts, Stoppies and Donuts, I've overtaken two up on one wheel once as well, but as god as is my witness..........

I would rather die than call myself a biker.
