Which out of the 2 drives are the best, which gives the best performance, and which give off the least amount of sound..
Also any difference between the 250 gig versions 320gig and the 400 gig ones?
apart from the size

There be used for installing OS's on one for xp one for vista, gaming, 2d, 3d work.

Both are very good drives and in every day use you will not be able to notice a lot of difference between the two in my opinion but the aak's are generaly rated as being the faster drive out of the two.

As for sound thier both very quiet and you can't go wrong with either but the samsungs are well known for being one of the most silent drives out there.

From looking at the different sized aak's theres no difference between them but on the samsung spinpoints the lower sized ones only have 8MB cache compared to 16MB cache seen on the larger drives.
The speed difference between 8/16MB cache is minimal mind you.

You can not go wrong with either as thier both more than up to the job but I would say the aak's overall, especially as two of them are in this weeks only offer.

My Spinpoint is dead silent, would definetly buy one again if I was looking for a storage drive when sound was more important.
The WDs do look to be drive of the moment, 2 of my flatmates are using them and there rigs fly along :)
