Great to help others, it's just the thought of being cut open (begining of saw 4 in other words)

But you'll need a coffin, a booking at the crem for burning, and your ashes can either be picked up from the local records place for free by a family member, or you can choose to have them scattered (usually on some grass in the crem grounds OR, you can organise a headstone/plaque at the crem/church grounds.

Ywah, lumps in my head they say they can give me radiotherapy to help with more time.. terminal though they reckon. Could be worse though..

I thought about it, I don't think they would want me as I'm hit with cancer so they won't want to touch me??

If you have no money and no one that can pay the local authoritys organise something as far as im aware
 
If you've got nothing left in your estate and no relatives then of course they don't just throw your body in a skip.
You will get a paupers service.

For a cremation you are looking in the region of around £1500 - £1750 for the full service.
 
Small funeral, S.E. London crematorium, simple coffin for a man who lived a simple life was £1900. Two bouquets of flowers came to £75.
 
There is an area in our local cemetry that is for people who don't want a religous burial and its also for 'green' burials no headstones or anything and it looks just like a meadow really nice.

I wouldn't joke about something like that, it's tearing me up as it is. Meh, I could have snuffed it in March when one of the tumours gave me a stroke and 8 weeks in hospital, put it into perspective and it's not so bad :)

I can't believe you even get stung for funds after you die, it means that although I'm 35 and haven't ever considered a funeral plan (does anyone at that age?) I am going to have to find a couple of £k extra just to to get myself sorted after I'm gone :(

Shocking, and I am trying to set aside enough money to keep the wife and son sorted as well.. I feel a rolleyes coming on!

I think the first thing I'd say is the try to stay positive about it as it's amazing what the mind can do for the body. I'm so sorry you're going through this though and I really hope that you recover. I can see you're trying to prepare for the worst but I'd suggest to concentrate on living and being alive and making the most of the time you have left with your wife and son (and hopefully that will be a very long time).

I can't imagine how you must be feeling going through this at such a young age. I would definitely try to keep positive and get everything you can from the doctors esepcially as you're so young still.

I know you don't know me but if you ever need to talk or just rant then add me to msn or email me, I'm a good listener :)

I wish you all the best and stay strong :)

Just incase you havnt heard of it, there is an Experimental drug out and doing the rounds in certain hospitals at the moment.

My uncle was given 2 months to live and started taking the drugs and now its 9 months later!. One doctor gave hime only 2 weeks:eek:

He had a cancer count drop from about 85 down to 5 or so what ever that means.

Maybe you should try ask about it?

Thanks, I have to go see my Oncologist today, who is bang up to date with the latest things so we'll see what he has to say :)

JodieG: Thanks for the words, keeping my chin up is everything at the moment and I'm completely focused on short/medium-term things like Christmas ans enjoying myself - you can't take it with you when you are gone and you can't enjoy yourself then either!!

The sig makes a lot more sense now :(
I would have though a cancer research (i spelt it reasherch first and ff recommends backlasher as the correct spelling :/ ) group might have wanted your body to possibly experiment with new and risky surgery or just to examine though.

But then i think you just get unceremoniously incinerated medical waste :(

Yeah, been a long term follower of Lance :)

Only just started using the FF spell check, good stuff isn't it!

TBH if they just burn me afterwards that's not a problem I think, when you get cremated remains back from the 'torium it's not all you but a mixture of others too :/

I'd want something for the missus to sprinkle at our special place though (Newquay) for some closure, if I was shipped off to be hacked up she'd have nothing I suppose..
