Inno3D 8800GT Failures

Even if it didnt die to due to the overclock but was genuinely faulty in the first place?

Yes, absolutely, the second you start overclocking the warranty breaks and whatever happens is in your hands, and that's the way it should be.

Besides i assume that you're sane enough to always thoroughly test your cards when you get them?

LOL.
I dont need a utility to tell me its stable.

Key things to look for

1) Machine locks up while playing games - No.
2) Sparklies - No
3) Polygons - No
4) Smoke - Maybe :D

Been playing with hardware a long, long time :)

I never claimed that you need it and i prefer gaming for the stability tests too, i'm just answering your question, relax :)

Why don't you call it 8800GT failures then? I thought they was made all the same (except OC's maybe)? Why you picking on inno?

They aint picking on inno, its because a few people have apparently had failures so some guy posted as he's intrested in finding out if its a problem or not.

sadly my inno 3D 8800GT turned up defective right from the word go. spent nearly a week trying to work out if it's a driver issue of some kind but finally given up & requested an RMA, which is a shame.

haven't clocked it or owt, & it's not overheating either, it just randomly loses the signal to the monitor, then locks the pc up. it can happen a couple of mins into a game, or maybe as long as half an hour. tried it in 3 different pc's now & it does the same thing in all of them.

From the Front Page of HardOCP

"Wanted to point our news readers to a thread in our HardForums that specifically addresses rumors that there are mass amounts of defective 8800 GT video cards. Looks as if it all comes down to one new GT owner with his panties in a wad. We have seen nothing that points to not being able to buy any companies' GeForce 8800 GT with anything other than confidence.

If we find anything information that points to issues with the cards, you can count on seeing it posted here."

Wonder if he works for ATI ???? ;)

To hopefully put this to bed now

"A Healthy GeForce 8800 GT Update
Given the unfounded rumors we have been exposed to about NVIDIA’s new GeForce 8800 GT having BSOD and DOA problems, we have kept on top of this story all day long. After personally talking to BFGTech, EVGA, and XFX this afternoon, none of these AIB partners have seen anything that points to the GT being a problematic card. If anything, out of the thousands and thousands that have already been sold in North America, we can point to less than 15 cards being RMA’d in total to the companies listed above. From our vantage point here at HardOCP there seems to be no real issues with DOA or BSODing GeForce 8800 GT video cards. I would suggest you can purchase an 8800 GT in confidence. I will stay in contact with BFGTech, EVGA, and XFX to make sure they don’t start seeing any issues out of the ordinary. "

nvidia make them not inno3d, the thread should say nvidia 8800gt failures not inno3d, dont try and blame them!

nvidia make them not inno3d
Hi Clocka,

yeah you got a point there. I have read that all 8800GT's are being built by NVIDIA’s contract manufacturers Flexitronic and Foxconn.

Apparently the first beta-samples, um I mean these few boards that have been snapped up by the mob were made by Foxconn and are not meant to be as well manufactured as the ones being *mass* produced by Flexitronic due for release over the next few weeks.

[edit] lol it was Fudzilla that I read it on! :o

Whats the hassle if they die then you send it back and get a replacement in the warranty, got mine for £150 so i not too overly worried( hope this does not mean a ban of account mentioning a price).

how are the cards we have inferior??

they outperform the GTS and even match the GTX (or get damn close) for a fraction of the cost. people should be grateful for these cards.

ARRGG that's not what I meant! Wouldn't have got one if it doesn't out perform the GTS

When I say inferior I meant Foxconn 8800GT vs. Flextronics 8800GT. I thought it was pretty obvious I was replying to the article Big.Wayne posted above my previous post with regards to the Foxconn ones being less overclockable than the Flextronics ones due out in a couple of weeks.

It was very clear what you meant.

I also rushed to buy one of these 'beta' boards. I guess that might explain the high failure rates?

If that article is true then how come some of us have BFG oc cards? If the units that shipped early are all bad clockers that none of the companies dare clock them that would not be the case.

I have a BFG card sitting at home for when i build my new spec on sun.

Put my Asus GT down as a failure, its not crippling under lots of AA/AF:(, im back on my GTS at the mo (good job i kept it as back-up), hopefully the place i got it from has still got a few in so i can get a quick replacement tomorrow when i take it in.

Sorry but every GT in that shop is going to have the same problem :).

Lol so we all got foxconn 8800GT's? haha, I want me a flextronics one bet they'll be a beast.
