online

hole in the wall

We don't need to go in a room with people anymore.

How much cash are we talking?

As Acidhell says, internet banking is great for some things, but you still need to pop into a building and see a human at times, either to pay something in, make a large withdrawal or because there is a problem that cannot be sorted over the phone.

It's also worth remembering that many people still don't use or trust internet banking, may not have it or need to go to the bank on a regular basis for one reason or another.

It must be 3 yrs since I have been in one.

They could cut the lot and I wouldn't care...

Scenario, i have £10k in cash. How do i pay it in?

I use them very frequently for paying in cash and withdrawing cash. Also for paying in cheques.

I find its easier to sort things out over the phone than some saturday girl to input details I already have over the net.

Cheques?

For business then yes but one would get an assitant for such nonsense.:p

Cheques are just wrong.

And 10k cash I wire that to my accountant!

I go to the bank every week. My local HSBC closed down 2 weeks ago so I changed to Barclays who are across the road. After speaking to them we weren't the first people in their swapping over their accounts.

If Barclays close down at least I can pay money into my Barclays account through the post office.

only ones inside a bank.

They don't have to be though. I'm sure you could only withdraw cash from a bank in the past as well.

I doubt we'll see the end of banks though. Old people can't use the internet or any sort of machine so they need to queue up. I just use the internet and the machines.

Thats scary

what do you do when you go out the town?

the trouble is they need emptying several times a day, if they where used often, especially the ones with take coins. Also compared to a normal cash machine there open to a lot more abuse as you have to put things in it. How often do you think people would put objects in it, that it's not designed to take.
