Owners that have both 360 & PS3...which one do you buy your games for

I have never paid more than £20 for a years live, which is about £1.60 a month.
 
I'd rather get an extra game a year than pay £40 for the better online service of XBox Live.

But then I don't really want to sit in my front room with a headset on, makes me look like a spaz.

try playing CoD4 on 360 and ask your friend who has the game but is playing say Halo 3 at the time if he wants to join you.

then try the same with PS3, load CoD4 on PS3, ask your PS3 owning friend who is playing Resistance at that time if he wants to play....

and you wonder why MS charge? that would be for the extra that is involved. i.e. you can do the above on 360.

check Gametrailers.com for the Bonus Round show (around episode 6), they talk to MS and Sony about all things LIVE and PSN. and it explains a lot.

lol EA can try and charge me as much as they like, I won't buy another EA title until they can learn to bring out some decent PS3 games instead of the shoddy 360 ports they have been throwing out, Laziest dev award goes to...EA!

He's wrong, you don't pay for it. If you pay a gold Live sub you get matchmaking. You still get everything from a standard PC multiplayer featureset without paying anything.

So because I can invite a friend to my game that's why they charge £40 a year?

To use your game example, try playing COD4 on 360 with 16 players with lag and a crap ping for £40 a year, compared to playing on a PS3 with no lag and a perfect connection on a dedicated server, for £0.

Yes, the integration of Live is very good but, does that really matter so much when you're actually In the fight playing the game? What matters more when you're holding a sniper rifle, a good connection or a message that pops up to tell you your mate has come online? I know what I would prefer, but if you prefer little on screen messages of joy, then your £40 is well spent.

Do you not no that you have the option to turn messages off if you want to.

People that make feeble excuses regarding live when already its a proven and worldiwide success. Thats fine if you dont want to pay and play online millions of others will.
 
At the last count i think ms said that there was over 6 million people using live.
To attract that many people its got to be good and worth £39.99

Why not you have to get into the game.
I bet Mr Latte even puts a drivers suit and helmet on when he plays forza2 and pgr4.
I might have started him off now he will be looking around the net pricing them.
