Owners that have both 360 & PS3...which one do you buy your games for

I know all about Xbox Live, I was ONLY referring to what he wrote about in game messages, read properly?

if you did know about LIVE, you'd know that the messaging is just one part of it and was used as an example to show why MS may charge. not to worry though, i'll know for next time when pointing out something to a sony fanboy, not to bother as they are somewhat blinded by the badge on the system they own.

At the last count i think ms said that there was over 6 million people using live.
To attract that many people its got to be good and worth £39.99

Just to correct you I believe that at last count MS stated 7 million Live users but have given no concrete indication (they never have and probably never will) of how many are paying gold members, how many are on 1 month trial and how many are silver members.

To be honest anyone who thinks 50% of 360 users are paying for Gold service is living in a dreamworld. And this point cannot really be disputed until Microsoft give a concrete figure. I am willing to bet most people with a 360 (ie more than 50%) still play offline for whatever reason (no broadband, can't afford Live etc).

I hate it when people give out disinformation like this based on no concrete facts.

that is all

Can't afford Live? come on really if you can afford to buy a console and games then you are going to be able to afford Live, sure some might not be able to get it for lack of Broadband, but can't afford it? nah don't see that being the case.

And if you hate people giving out info without the concrete facts, then maybe you should not hazard a guess at how many have gold? :)

You have to bear in mind that whilst £40 or USA equivalent is peanuts to a lot of people it is for others. How can you know what people find affordable? Also there are other countries where broadband penetration is much lower so people have no choice. A lot of 360's are owned by kids who don't have credit cards, a lot of people's parents wont let them have live, the reasons are probably endless and all logical supposition, I would say.

My point was that he claimed that MS said that 6 million users are paying for Gold which is not the case. I clearly stated my figure is a guess. ;)

I'm paying for Gold and i've not had a 360 for a good year or so now, I keep forgetting to cancel :p

haha. My answer to this, Is... Both. We look at site reviews etc, And criticisms, Not taken from blatant fanboys of course.

I don't own a PS3, But i'm usually included as a voice of reason when it comes to my friend purchasing a game. So far from using reviews, I'd say 80% of games we bought on the 360. And the rest were Ps3.

Dirt and Oblivion being the 2 he owns on the PS3. Because they perform that little bit better. It's worth looking really. He nearly bought Darkness on PS3. Until I Kicked his ass.
He wouldn't accept it, And wanted the PS3 version. But thankfully he left it alone :p

Oh I agree that MS saying 7 Million live users are not going to be all currently active on gold, they are counting silver and free trials and codes etc, and I agree kids might not have live, and neither they should either, but I don't think its expensive enough to put it out of the reach of many people who can afford the console to begin with, and considering now you don't really need a credit card at all and can buy top up cards basically.

I too tend to judge each cross platform title individually, I do lean towards 360 due to Live and knowing more 360 owners.. but if it runs better on the PS3 I do look at that more closely!.

On the subject of Live.
I do think it's about time Live became cheaper.. I pay £25 a year for my Gold subscription, but I can see that it has areas it could handle some improvement... however I don't think I'm being ripped off by the annual charge, I like the integration of it all..

Tbh i prefer the 360 for almost everything! People who moan about the £40 a YEAR for Live are probably poor!
Me and my best mate has both owned xbox360 for about 18 months and we still both on silver...

(am to poor to be able to afford gold :p)

I haven't got a problem paying £40 a year for live, The problem i have is paying £160 a year for live on the same console (GF,2 Kids and myself) :(

Achievements don't need gold, neither do save games.

Obviously need to explain it to you again, 1 Gold account, but I guessed most would get that since thats what we are talking about.....
