Just tried a protein drink..

yeah, but nobody will uptake 10g of creatine in one go (and 6 is more than enough for anyone under 100kg)

Completely a waste of money when it's effectively being ****ed away :p

6g per day is my limit when I've used CEE, but using monohydrate at 10g per day maintenance and cycling has been the most benficial to me. If I was using creatine continuously then my maintenance does would be lower. But I use for 4 weeks than have 2 off and repeat. :)

When I'm loading I take 10g pre workout shake, 10g post workout shake.

Maintenance is 5g pre workout shake, 5g post workout shake.

10g is fine in one dose for pre workout and post workout shakes.

and it is disgusting.

How do you drink this ****?
You guys make me laugh :D

What are you doing in the gym? Why do you need a protein shake?

I disagree. Before I say anything else though can I ask how you're taking the creatine? As in, is it in 500ml milk, 400ml fruit juice, with whey or whatever?

I quite like my morning protein shake. It's the straight BCAA or EAA with water that tastes seriously nasty.
Mate don't put the BCAA's in water, not worth the hassle. Straight in the mouth and then washed down with water, much easier. Just don't breath in when you have them in your mouth lol  :D

You want to taste bad, then try some of the herbs like Cissus, Grapeseed Extract, Horny Goat Weed, etc. Now they're nasty!

I have been drinking unflavoured whey with milk ever since I ordered 5kg off the net, but the other day I ran out. So I went to H&B to pick up some to last me for a few weeks until I can get some more off the net. It's vanilla flavour...and WHOAH, this is tasty! I could literally drink it all day!

With the unflavoured whey I would have to hold my nose whilst drinking it, and even then I would quite often wretch because it tasted so foul.

Next time I order off the net I will definitely splash out a bit more to get it flavoured.

It was ok with water, but for some reason it just tastes foul with milk. Really horrid. I think it's the smell more than anything, hence why I would hold my nose. But then again apparently a large proportion of 'taste' is actually smell.

I train first thing in the morning so I have my pre workout shake which includes:

400ml fully skimmed milk
50g whey protien
10g creatine - when loading which I'am at the moment
10g L-Glutamine
100g Quaker rolled oats
1 small tsp of cocoa powder

Then I have a glass of grapefruit juice (helps with creatine absorption) and my multi-vits, fish oils, Bcaa and vit c tabs.

Then I train......while consuming 100g maltrodextrin liquid.

For my post workout shake

400ml fully skimmed milk
50g whey protien
10g creatine - when loading which I'am at the moment
10g L-Glutamine
100g Quaker rolled oats
1 small tsp of cocoa powder

Than I eat a banana which also helps creatine absorption and take my bcaa tabs.

The 5g a day dose is the recommended dose for your average person, but like most things it's not always the correct for everyone. Some people can take less and suffer bad side effects and water retention. I know people who take more than 10g per dose leading upto competitions and they find it helps.

Like I've said it's different for everyone.

Nah, i just mix in some Robinsons fruit drink and it's fine. It was just the first time that i made the mistake of taking it with nothing added.

I'm hardly doing anything in the gym at the moment. All I'm doing is 2 1hr30min circuit training sessions a week but I'm finding that each one ***** me up for about 2 days afterwards and then I can't train properly in the other sessions. I have been recommended this particular protein mix and to make sure I take vit tablet everyday seeing as i'm in catered halls and I can't really change my diet there as I have to eat what I'm given. Its more to help me recover after sessions rather than to gain size or anything.

However eventually I will be going to the gym pretty much everyday to improve specific things such as vertical leap, strength etc. Not to increase size, although that will probably come along with it.

I still have 2 more flavours to try though. The guy in the health food shop who seemed very in tune with all sorts of training demands for different sports gave me a sample of strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate to try before I dish out on a massive tub of the stuff.

Good stuff, some thought gone into your nutrition :)

You're missing out on the single most important thing to make sure you get maximum benefit from your creatine, water. I think you should aim for 100ml per 1g of creatine minimum, any less and you'll end up with undissolved creatine in the gut that will draw water from elsewhere.
I mix 5g with 700ml of luke warm water on it's own, nothing else. Apparently creatine is absorbed better when in solution rather than suspension and having it luke warm helps it dissolve even better. Also this much water helps dilute stomach acid increasing creatine uptake even further.

I have this drink after breakfast when I have lots of carbs and protein. I also sometimes have it pre workout depending on what I've had that day. Obviously this kind of rules out taking it PWO, as having a drink during workout and PWO can leave me a bit bloated, an extra 700ml drink just for creatine would be silly. I don't think it really matters when creatine is taken as long as there's carbs.

Sodium is also supposed to help with creatine uptake, as you seem to be inclined to include this in your planning :)

What is this the thinking behind the banana and grapefruit juice helping, the carbs?

EDIT - This is only in regards to monohydrate, CEE is a different animal.

Dude the only thing he'll be very 'in tune' with is selling sports supplements to people who don't really know what they want or need ;)

For what you describe you really don't need anything in terms of supplements, just eat a banana and then a good meal after your gym and save your money. Spend it on some better quality food during the week, it'll do you more good mate.

Like I said earlier (well I didn't say it specifically), but I was told to go and speak to this guy in the shop.

The problem with making my own meal is that I'm in catered halls - I don't even have an oven.
