Xbox Originals Won't Have Achievements

Really, who gives a damn. Achievement points are useless, they're pointless, they serve no purpose and they mean absolutely nothing.

Aside from the fact I can't think of a single Xbox game I'd want to play right now when there's better, newer games on the 360.

If this was a money making exercise then adding achieves would make them more money I guess, going by the amount just on here who care about them. I still have my Xbox so no need for these things, but someone new to the MS console might want to play the old classics :)

Same. Adding achievements would be the only thing that would make these games worth getting in my eyes, as like you I can simply buy them all cheap and play them on my Xbox if I want to.

It's all a money making exercise, I see what you're saying though, they would almost certainly sell more with the inclusion of achievements.

I'd just like them to have gone with the truth, which I believe is more a case of it not being worth the effort.

More importantly why are people so bothered about Achievments? Play the game and stop worrying your little heads about Achievments and Gamerscore.

I think it's pathetic how people play/buy games they don't like just for the achievments, of course, that is just my opinion.
If you read the other thread regarding this issue you would have noticed that some of us wanted the games to simply run better without the associated emulation glitches. I don't care a toss about achievements or score.

Stop calling people jesus christ! :p Anyway, this doesn't help the issue either.

"Firstly, the known issues:

There are some known issues with Xbox Originals. With all game titles, publisher logos at the start of a game can be choppy on first play when caching. Also, any additional content within a game (such as a demo or trailer) is not supported by Xbox Originals titles and selecting those options may result in crashing the game (requiring a restart of the console)."

I don't really care that there aren't achievements, but what a load of crap :p MS should learn when to say that they just aren't doing it because they aren't... not ramble on about integrity :\

I don't see why some of you are getting moody about the lack of new features, many people will download original xbox games not just for new things but for the ease of playing off a hard disk and not having to go hunting on ebay/in second hand stores.
I do agree that the ease of playing from the HDD is an added bonus but, they really could have put in the effort to fix the glitches/bugs before release. Now would be the exact right time to do so, a missed opportunity imo.

I'm guessing they didn't want to risk breaking the game by putting them in. If they have to do a load of development work on a title because the achievements broke it then that title loses a lot of it's profit, which is after all the only reason M$ want to release them.

Of course then you have the flip-side, would a lot more people buy the game if it did have achievements? enough to cover the cost of development to put them in?

From what I've read, aren't these download versions going to run better? Because they've fiddled with them a bit in a way they can't do with the pre-set nature of the already burnt Xbox discs.
The lack of acheivements doesn't bother me, it's the excuse that is annoying.

You have even said that they would like to have done it, but it would be too difficult. That's fine, but I wish they would just say that, rather than coming out with some nonsense about integrity.
I think people might be misunderstanding what MS mean by "integrity" here. I don't think they're talking about the gameplay itself, rather the fact that opening up the program files to add stuff like achievements would probably intorduce all manner of possible bugs that would need to then be found and fixed. Achievements wouldn't be that easy to just add, because you'd need to make the older Xbox code understand the whole concept of the online 360 profiles and how to connect to them. That's not an easy task. Refactoing a bit of code, or recompiling it to work better on a pre-existing emulator is.

This. A thousand times this.

I can understand the fact that achievements might add replay value to a game, but playing a rubbish game just for points, or not playing a good game because it doesn't have them? Madness.

They could add one 1000 point achievement for finishing the game :p
