The Official Assassin's Creed Thread

I've been considering that myself, I had intended all along to get the PS3 version, I think I'll be going for the 360 version instead now.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the box with the 18 certificate is an ELSPA rating, which is more of a guide to who should be playing it.

The ELSPA ratings are designed in association with the Video Standards Council to give consumers (and parents in particular) an indication of the age ranges a certain product is most suitable for. ELSPA-recommended ages relate to suitability for viewing and not to the difficulty or playability of the game itself.

18+: the game or software is only suitable for adults (persons aged 18 or over). It may include one or more strong scenes of graphic sex or violence, explicit language, nudity, use of drugs, derogatory stereotypes or domestic violence

The 15 rating one looks to be a BBFC rating, which is a legal requirement rather than an advisory.

The BBFC is an independent British body that uses minimum ages to categorise films and PC and video games.

15: the film or game is unsuitable for anyone younger than 15. It may have a fairly adult theme or contain mature content, language and violence which, while not being particularly graphic, is unsuitable for younger teenagers. It is an offence for a shop to supply a 15-rated video, DVD or game to anyone below the age of 15

It's pretty good so far, though the combat is a bit stab-stab-stab until enemy is dead. The spoiler happens about 5 seconds after starting the game and both adds and interesting spin on the plot and gives an excuse for some of the things that make you realise that you're playing a game.

Isn't the "Stab-Stab-Stab" because you don't have all the abilities yet?

I want to ask, I know you can kill civilians, but do you battle with them or a simple slash as you walk past ?

To be honest I've tried not to kill innocents (part of the Creed, don't cha know) so I haven't noticed. Rest assured when I boot up the 360 tomorrow morning the first thing I'll do for you is stab some innocent merchant and find out :D

The hidden sword up yer sleeve that gives you stealth kills is awesome! I saw 3 guards ahead of me and strolled past one with my head bowed down pretending I was praying and 'oops!" I shoved the sword into the back of the middle one as I slowly walked past mimicking nearby scholars/monks.

The other two turned around to look at their dead partner who just slumped to the ground - so I turned around and killed another in the same way before getting my main sword out and hacking the remaining chap to bits. The crowd were getting worked up now so I was attracting attention. I saw a boat in a river so I thought I'd jump over the fence and into that, to make a cool getaway. I missed the boat, and hit the river and died! :( I cannae swim! :o

tried this last night, loving it so far, spent most of the time free-running over the rooftops!

Controls are very simple, can't see what the fuss is about.

While I'm not really that far into the story, I'm intrigued on how it pans out.

I'm wondering why the doctor has a badge with the crusader cross on his lapel. Relevant to the storyline?

Agree with everything there. Not too far into the game either but loving it so far, can honestly say it's everything I hoped it would be. Controls are different from the norm, but it doesn't take long to get used to them.

As for the storyline and the twist, although I'm not sure it even is a twist given that it comes immediately. While it doesn't seem necessary in the context of one game, there are two main reasons why I think it makes perfect sense. The first one being that it allows for the pretty much essential inclusion of the radar. It would be very tiresome playing in such a large area without any indication on where to go or what to do.

The second, and I believe main reason why we have the twist, is that now they have set up the whole idea of memory recall, the future Assassin's Creed games can easily (and more importantly) logically be set at any point in history. This makes the possibilities for where and when to set the sequels almost endless.

Does anyone know if you can make the game harder? Cos it's far too easy once you get the counter kill.

Not sure what to make of the game. It's getting a bit same old same. IE climb some tower, save some people, pickpocket blah blah blah.

And it's far too easy to get away once you've done your assasination.
