The most important game the world has ever seen, *SPOILERS*

Of course all of this logical stuff will be overlooked and we'll continue to whinge about there being a lack of passion rickkayyyyyy .. rickkkayy you aint got no passion for the shirt .. cor blimey guv

That bought a tear to my eye :D

This might sound daft considering his age but I honestly think Owen should retire from international football. He owe's it to his club and himself if he wants to salvage his career.

That was dreadful. I was almost supporting Austria by the end - though, this is largely because my home is technically Vienna :)

I've always been something of an apologist for Beckham, as I'm a lifelong Manyoo fan and loved him when he was there, but I cringed every time he touched the ball. Then again, tonight, I did the same when anyone else in the team touched the ball either.

No way England deserve to be in the finals after that kind of performance, Austria weren't even making an effort for large parts of the first half. Saying that, the single most cringeworthy thing was listening to the commentators go on about how England had dominated possession, played a strong game, looked determined...Sorry, but they were dire. I don't care if it was a friendly, aside from one or two moments of actually passing the ball in a flowing way! it was one of the worst games I've seen in ages.

I've been looking forward more to the Scotland game anyway, living in Edinburgh that'll at least have an atmosphere.

ok, well gerrard and lampard proved once and for all that you should always pick your star names rather than the ones which provide balance to the team tonight...

keep on playing them together. that's what i say.

Won't bother

Hoping we dont go through, we need a slap in the face like this, maybe then the team (bar a few) might actually play and try for their country rather than just think they are in the team because they should be

we have had slaps like this before and not qualified doesn't do any good !
we need to get rid of the pot bellied old men from the f.a we need young and dynamic people at the top not stuffy old fashioned teach em to tackle hard and fitness minded clueless gumps.

The amount of money the f.a gets is ludicrous we should have 3 world cups by now i think it's a real gravy train the f.a rotten to the core.

That was the 1st England game in years that I haven't even bothered to watch and I didn't miss much by all reports, my passion for the national side is pretty low at the moment and I don't like it:(

I know what you mean ive felt like this for a few years now :/

I was well up for it again when Wembley re-opened, went to the first 3 or 4 games and had that 'new season' buzz going, it's just not inspiring at the moment, every game's the same dour rubbish.

I know how you feel. My passion for the game is at an all time low, has been for quite a while now. I just think the game as a whole has taken a turn for the worse in so many ways... why does money always seem to ruin everything?

My passion for the national side is absolutely none existant! :(

After being absolutely football mad for over 20 years.... I even decided to quit playing for my local team last weekend and now I keep trying to get into rugby and am taking up submission fighting, CFC. Falling out of love with football leaves a pretty big hole!!

Is it any surprise that watching England play Watford style 'stay up' football doesn't warm your cockles when Manchester United/Arsenal/whoever are playing proper football every week?

It's not the style of football so much as I'm not a Champagne Fan, it's more just the fact that they underachieve and I feel let down by them.
I can handle rubbish football if it's played with the right intent:)

We had one, he employed Sven

The next one was a fat hypocrite who decided to ban Rio to show how morally superior he was, only to be found up to his **** in guts with the office bike two minutes later.

We just need someone who is in the job for the love of football, not for the money or for the flying round the world.
Problem is, those people are in the game already with clubs and as coaches and wouldnt go near the pit of filth that is soho square if you paid them a billion pounds a year.

Oohh, someone's still bitter about getting the sack, we were just as rubbish when you were in charge by the way;)

Have to agree with the comments, I forced myself to watch, lasted 5 mins and decided it would be the same rubbish as always. I now couldn't care less if we qualified or not - there was once a time i'd be close to tears if we didn't qualify.
