****ATi 3850 & 3870 Ramblings****

You've lost me Will . Are you being serious m8?, as that is some statement . Shame it will only be this game and maybe one or two others :(.

According to Iceshock he was running crysis @ 1680x1050, VERY HIGH, 4xAA and getting 16fps, I dunno if a GTX can even do that, a GT sure as hell cant.

Ooooh, this is very interesting after the general consensus was that the HD3870 was just a better designed 2900.

I hope this is for my 2900 too :D.

Think I'm defineatly getting a 3870XT now, have been thinking about the 8800GT a lot but as I already have a crossfire motherboard it makes more sense to get one of these.

Any ideas which manufacturor is best to go for atm or is it still too early?

I am gonna go for the Sapphire too i reckon.

Gonna get one first of all then go for a second after christmas. Hopefully this will begin an upturn for AMD/ATi.
Now just need to see some good benchies between Phenom and Penryn and all will be well.

Got my 3870 today, upgrading from an MSI 7900GTO 512mb.

The 3870 gives a 60% speed increase in 3D mark over my previous card, plays Bioshock beautifully smoothly on high settings at 1680x1050 res. And yes the fan noise is great, the card is absolutely silent.

Definitely worth a purchase - the only thing is there are no ATI drivers for these cards on their website yet, but the ones supplied on the CD seem to be doing the job so far.

Can you tell me if the card supports voltage control through ATItool/traytools?

Just noticed the 512mb 3850s, how much of a performance gain would you see from the 256mb version? At 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Resolution?

There would probably be a big difference at 1680x1050, not as much with 1280x1024.

I am on 256MB 1950pro cos only running at 1280x1024 (17" TFT), when i get a 22" i will have to go to 512MB for the higher resolution
