Do you pull over for motorcyclists?

Regardless if I'm in the car or on the bike if there is someone else behind me that is going faster than me and I can move over to an inner lane then I will.

The amount of numpties I see in the morning sat in the outer lane whilst the others are empty meaning I have to in theory undertake them does my head in.

No, what I am saying is that you are quite happy to say it on a forum, but i suspect that you wouldn't be so quick to state that opinion to a Patch Club member. Keyboard warrior? hell if i know, but certainly within the realms of possibility.

as for your nit-picking of my analogy, my point is that an occasional ride on a bike at weekends does not make you a biker... hell, riding into london on your 125 Hyosung every day as it's cheaper does not make you a biker... i suppose it's one of those "If you have to ask, then you aint" type things. It's about the passion, the way of life...

aww... to hell with it... i don't really give a stuff what you think to be honest...

Always - especially in slow moving motorway hold ups. At the very least I do it because I don't want them getting anywhere near my car but also because I am a bit christian :p:D

If I see a motorcyclist approaching and I'm in slow moving traffic I'll position myself to the left slightly to give him a better chance of passing. If I'm doing the speed limit there's no need, and most of them don't bother anyway.

Mopeds hanging off your rear bumper are a pain too, but it doesn't bother me too much, at 30 it's their VMAX anyway so a gentle prod of my accelerator and theyr'e gone (for a short while anyway).

I don't generally. I did before I was a rider but now I'd prefer cars don't swerve into the ditch when i'm behind them. I don't really need any assistance to overtake a car as the potential speed difference is so great i can be past them in the blink of an eye anyways. Plus I ride defensively so I'd rather not count on the actions of a car driver in front no matter how courteous they are being just so i can squeeze past oncoming traffic.
I've also had at least one occasion where I was side by side with another car and had an oncoming vehicle deliberately veer across the whitelines to try and scare me(think I just closed my eyes and carried on with that one).
When on the motorway/dual carriageway I will move over to allow bikes to flter more easily but that's something different from driving along the verge on a single carriageway.

I ride a Scooter, but am unlike the typical scooter rider, I am in no hurry to get to where I want, but if the lights are on red, but it is safe for me to move forward a little (no cars coming, big lanes, like the lights on my route home) then I will. I think some of it is to do with me not having much confidence on the roads yet, as I am still a new rider. What does annoy me tho are 16/17 year olds that want to race me from the lights.

in 99% of circumstances i'd rather the car driver just held their position in the road.

you never know when the car that has pulled in might have to avoid a pot hole of sunken grid/drain in the gutter.

Even if someone pulls over for me i'll always give them the same birth as if they hadn't altered positon.

Thaks to everyone that does though, it at least show they are paying attention :D

Always, never had a thankyou wave though. :(

Always (as long as I spot 'em first!) when in my artic, I get lots of appreciation & thanks - something I don't in the car.

Swung my truck & trailer over to let a biker pass me (I was in the nearside lane) on the M6, Jct 10a the other day, only to nearly kill the daft bugger on a 125 who was creeping up on my nearside!!!

Tbh most - but not all - bikers are their own worst enemy.

so people who drive cars from a to b arent drivers?

The roads are full of non-drivers.

A lot of folk simply operate a car / van / bike as if it were a dvd player rather than drive in the true sence of the word.

Just because your on a bike does not make you a biker, as already said, theres so much more to it than that.

Just because the guy in that Scania 620BHP Monster is driving it, does not mean he's particularly experienced (he could be an agency driver with little regular work on, or, fresh out of training for example) same could be said for a biker. He could be a 20,000miles per year rider, or, perhaps, a once a month youth re-liver......

The mistake is to assume what type of person is operating / riding / driving the machinery around you. ;)

The only two assumptions I make about everyone else on the road around me when I'm riding is a) the majority haven't seen me; b) those that have are trying to hit me. :p
:D
Thats my attitude to driving my artic through central London, the scary thing is people don't see my 53ft long 44 tonner, so bikers must appear uttererly invisible to 95% of the morons out there......

I pull over for bikers when its safe to do so, but as already said sometimes I won't but will just maintain a steady road position as I know they will get past when they can anyway. I drive a car and ride a bike. What I can't understand as a biker are two things:

1: People always try to race you, especially away from lights. Don't bother is all I say. Even if you do think you can beat a bike like the RX owner that posted earlier. In fact, keep trying as it does amuse me.

2: People that don't move over I can tolerate completely. The people that DELIBERATELY move over cutting you up/blocking you on a bike need their heads checked. So so dangerous. I have had this on motorways where car drivers will just pull accross half way through a filter/pass. It's no wonder I hear of car drivers getting their wing mirrors kicked off by bikers in disgust.

I would disagree that "most bikers are twits" bla bla bla. I would say it's about half and half. In fact, I would say a large percentage of sportsbike riders are good riders with a lot of self discapline given the power they have at their disposal.

i would happily state imy opinion to anyone, how they decide to take it and argue it is up to them.
you clearly do care, otherwise you wouldnt be threatening me with all the patch club stuff as if i should suddenly care that you do not like my opinion.

thats no different for those drivers that dont like being overtaken, be it by a car or a bike, speeding up to close the gap so that your overtake suddenly becomes very dangerous.
muppets :/

And just when did I threaten you? I am not a club member (patch or otherwise) and never will be (Can't give that level of commitment).

Try to make sure the hamster in your head is in gear before hitting the reply button;)

And as for me caring? About you in particular, no... not really... more about the way you said "whether you like it or not" or words to that effect in the post I originally quoted.

Yes I do, but i used really get the hump with BMW and ST wanna be traffic police with full paniers that could'nt get through traffic and would sit there so i couldnt filter

Easy on the Beemer generalisations there, I always get back into lane if I can't filter :p. It is fair to say though that a number of BMW riders, much like BMW drivers, have a bad attitude towards other road users.

Always when driving a car. But then again, I'm a motorcyclist myself.

+1 , if I see a bike in my mirrors making progress through traffic I'll always move over a bit. If nothing else it gives the biker a bit of confirmation he's been seen.

get over it, its an opinion. the internet is full of them.
