"PC Games" Forum!

I don't think they'd do too well on PC since we're already spoilt for choice when it comes to racing games. Is there any sim racing games on the 360 yet?

Spoilt for choice? 3 sims really and that is it, I am sure PGR would be massive on PC. The sim driving market on PC is quite small, go on rfactor every night or GTR and you will see the same people night after night.

Forza 2 is on 360 :)

Pull the other one...I have played Forza 2. ;)

Live for Speed, Race 07, F1 Challenge (with current season updates etc), Richard Burns Rally...

LFS being the most notable - huge community and by far the best sim on any platform backed up by fantastic developers.

Medieval Total War 2
Battlefield 2142
Crysis
Grand Prix 4
WoW(ugh)
Lotro
Thief3
Hellgate:London
Witcher
Company of Heroes

i havent seen or played a single console game that has the depth or longevity most PC games have, although the Nintendo Wii is a qualilty innovative machine that isnt desperately trying to be a PC and offers a truly diff experience

List some decent games that are on PC and not on console :D
But even the same games on the PC can look far better then they do on a console as we can play them at far higher resolutions with higher settings...

Like COD4 on xbox360 & PS3 = 1024x600p (600p) :p
and here me playing COD4 at 1920x1200 at about 60fps on my PC ;) (0r 1080p when playing on my 1080p plasma)

Guitar Hero
COD4
Lego Star Wars
Crackdown
Condemned
Dead Rising

I'm bored already!

As said Lego Star Wars and CoD4 are on pc as better versions. Console version of CoD4 as a lock on feature lol. Also Guitar Hero is on PC. As for the others, well I wouldn't consider any of them "decent".

True. But how much did your set up cost you to do that?

Excluding monitor, mine cost £240. ;)

Lol, rubbish. You're saying that 2 year old consoles have a broader selection of games than a gaming platform thats got a back catalogue spanning over 2 decades? :p

Of course. There's zero compatibility problems playing games 20 years old on modern Vista computers..

All three current gen consoles also have pretty decent back catalogues (apart from the 40GB PS3) and pretty much every genre is covered with a AAA title. Besides, it's the new releases that people get excited about, right?

I have an Xbox 360 elite and also a pretty good pc, now personally i think most games look better on pc and also play faster and smoother on pc.Hower some 360 games play better than pc (usually beacuse they are ported from 360 to pc) PC is much better for FPS and RTS games which are my preferred platform, and the fact that i can mod the games and do stuff to them makes me prefer the PC, dont get me wrong i love the 360 as it is very simple and quick to get a game going, but just doesnt have the capability of a pc.

Then again this is my opinion and i know everyone else has their own.

Who in the right mind uses Vista? :p

Obviously i didn't mean every old game, but the popular ones have been re-released or patched to at least run on XP.

The classic Lucas Arts adventures for example, Sam and Max, Monkey Island, Grim Fandango etc...games which deserve to be replayed every now and again because they have yet to be surpassed in their area.

What's your alternative to those? :)

Fact is, it's like the Microsoft V Sony V Nintendo when it comes to PC Gamers.

There's no denying it, they probably have the better technical aspects and for the most part enjoy benefits like the modding community. I envy a PC gamer for someone been able to create more Portal levels for a start. One thing that, as a console gamer, I doubt I'll ever see.

But as a typical, practical and live example, last weekend at the LAN party was a prize example on how better equiped a console is for immediate Plug and Play.

Connect console to monitor, turn on, done. "Can I borrow your <game>?", sure, take CD, insert, play. "Can I borrow your controller?", sure, take, sync, done.

No faffing about with "Awe doooode, need to calibrate my Logitech Razr tripple laser pro mouse for optimal settings on this crap non-slip mat".

I'd much sooner have a dedicated piece of hardware that I know no matter what, I can go to any shop in the UK, buy ANY game and it'll work flawlessly on my hardware. I'm more than happy that any peripherals that come out will work without any additional drivers conflicting. The fact that someone at the otherside of the world has zero advantage over me, that it's all fair in love and war makes it a better experience.

Again I tried to play Grim Fandango last year only for it to cause an error on my PC. Sam and Max was hard enough to get working!

The hassle isn't worth it!

I'm not sure why your listing these anyway, the 360 has been out 2 years, I'd be pretty worried if the PC hasn't got a bigger catalogue of games! The fact is for ease of use, comfort and gaming experience, the 360 wins hands down.

Half-Life Series
Command and Conquer Series

Quake Series
Doom Series
Far Cry
Battlefield Series
CoD 2
Unreal Tornament Series
Prey
Medal of Honor (The good PC series)

They have been on the 360 and original xbox. ;)

I think most men grow out of having to spend time to configure a pc game to run, I just like to sit down with a beer bang in COD4 and have a game on live, so simple and effortless, I loved building pc's back when I was a teenager but at 24 its boring and time consuming

Im listing them because whatshisface suggested that the consoles had a bigger catalogue, lol.

And i don't know what you were doing wrong there because i installed Grim Fandango a couple of months ago and it ran perfect straight outta the box. :/

Yeah thats the great thing about PC's, working on one PC and not another!

I bought Grim Fandango last year, looking forward to playing it on my XP laptop, only to find it wouldn't run.

The older games can be played on older hardware anyway.

The crux of the matter is with new releases.
