"PC Games" Forum!

I'll never go back to PC gaming. Never.

I've lost count how many times I went out and bought a game only to ensure the following:

Driver compatibility,
Latest patches,
Latest DirectX updates,
Tweaking various settings on game control panel for optimal v playable settings
Having to remember to come out of running applications ("You've got mail" popping up during a game and having to ensure immense flicker)
Having to be sat at a desk to play.

And of course getting so miffed off that in order to appreciate the game to it's full, I need to bust a gut, go out and purchase new processor, memory, graphics card, reinstall the OS, defrag drive, etc, etc.

Now, I can hold the jewel key of a controller, put controller in my pocket, walk into the kitchen, make a coffee, jump on settee, pull out controller and play within 30 seconds.

Sorry PC, you do a beautiful job in the work department, but gaming you can kiss my hairy butt.

Just an example of the last time we bought a PC game, Sarah wanted Broken Sword so she bought it for the PC. Went to play it on my PC, didn't work due to the graphics card being incorrect, had to be an ATI card! Yet it didn't mention this anywhere on the box, had to ring support.

I used to hate having to check a game to see if my PC ''supported'' it. Calll it lazy but thank **** I don't have to do it with the 360/PS3!

Lol, rubbish. You're saying that 2 year old consoles have a broader selection of games than a gaming platform thats got a back catalogue spanning over 2 decades? :p

Who wants to play games from 20 years ago? If we did we'll go on XBL and download the best ones :D

I am also a converted Xbox gamer having played the last 7-8 years on the PC. I prefer the fact that after a hard day at work sorting peoples issues out I can turn my Xbox on and launch a game instantly without having to install it, configure it and tweak it etc.

I used to enjoy that aspect but lately I just don't have time for it. Live! is as good as any PC multiplayer game without a doubt.

Seriously doubt I will upgrade my PC much more. As long as I can play music, check my email and browse websites then that's good enough for me.

2 DECADES!!! You're sure on that?

You're 100% positive that something, even in the early 90's would run 100% on XP or Vista without compatibility issues?

Broader selection maybe, but practicality and compatibility comes into play here.

People who aren't blinded by graphics and appreciate good gameplay regardless of age?

Transport Tycoon Deluxe (1994) has a substantial online community thanks to all the mods, also there was a thread in the PC games forum recently about the Road Rash series being available to download. ;)

Ok, ok, ok, so we buy a 360 for games today and spend £50 on a PC to run Pong an stuff.

Easy.

Project Gotham Racing 4

I was listing those as you asked what 10 year old+ games people want to play, they are merely in addition to all the other stuff the PC can do that the Xbox can't/doesnt do as well. :p

They both have positives and negatives. The PC just has more negatives than the 360 :D
