"PC Games" Forum!

100% agreed and add to that, some games like Half-Life 2 needs online activation, probably making it unsellable. (?!)

Unlike console games which you can borrow or pass it around.

Never mind dealing with some incomparability as well!

On the flip side I can purchase, download and start playing a new game without leaving my chair. Also I'm sure you can also resell games you've activated on steam but I admit it's not as easy as just taking it to the shop.

These threads always amuse me; all these threads show is how immature certain people are.

I've got a PC and have played on friends 360's enough to know what the appeal of the 360 is. If I have friends round I’m hardly going to sit them all round my PC while I start to install the latest RPG. On the other hand I also enjoy the fact that on the PC there is a massive back catalogue of games, countless mods and I can also tweak (most) games to get them running perfectly on my reasonable spec PC.

Surely it's not hard for people to see the appeal of both machines? :o

All this constant bickering and one-upmanship is making certain members look like immature fools.

Seems very dull and boring in there, all wanting mass effect. and talk of assassins creed next year, oh how i love the fact us console gamers come first, we may not have crysis, but with mass effect on the verge! who cares?

Im glad i made the right choice!

-Neoni! - Happy xbox fanboy.

What a crap thread.

Oh and fixed :).

Several average titles, a few RTS games and 4 strong FPS games.

not a fan of rts games then?

as a MASSIVE fan of rts game (it does require the caps, sorry) this is where those few rts titles do make the pc hold it's head above the console.

but yeah a pc has always just been a a pain in the bottom for me with patches and more bugs

ps: just consider this a complaint that my pc is completely broken for no reason at all

im not a fanboy i originally wanted a ps3, with the prices rising on gfx cards, and it costing quite a bit for a top spec pc, i turned to console gaming. :)

Are we excluding the < £150 (5% slower than the top card) 8800GT then? :D

(or at least mine was when i got it for £142 on release day) ;)

i just think its hard to keep ontop of things with a pc. im sure im not alone.

Aye, but if you buy and sell at the right time it's not too bad.

I'm a huge fan of FPS games so PC is the best choice for me, as mouse + keyboard > gamepad for them.

Pro evo. :p

COD 4 needs patching. Gears still needs sorting. Infact loads of 360 games have required patches.

patching for the 360 though is a non-event, taking a few seconds normally to download *** entire patch, ass opposed to certain games... Bf2 with it's 500mb patches and supcom i think. It's a general thing that the majority of patches on a pc game are much more hassle than a patch on a console game

(all this is only 360 experiance)

Fair enough that only Crysis out of that lot is a PC exclusive but all the others run far superior to their console ports (depending on the hardware of course)

A bit of an exageration me thinks. I've played Bioshock and Cod4 on the 360 and a high end pc and never once did the pc version seem superior. Infact, I prefered playing Bioshock with a pad (mainly for analogue movement) and enoyed CoD4 multiplayer equally on both systems. Visually the pc had the the edge, but keyboard movement sucks compared to analogue and the lack of triggers and rumble makes it pretty much even in my eyes. GoW is also game that feels made for playing with a pad (assuming you're not one of those thumb challenged people who can only play shooters with a mouse ;)), but I haven't played it on the pc so can't really compare. So really, Crysis is the only exclusive, and that's pretty average when compared to the other cracking games recently released or coming out soon.

Mario Galaxy and Mass Effect are where it's at :)

IGN themselves said the PC version of CoD4 was superior, GoW feels fine on a keyboard and mouse, actually even better than what it did on the pad.

Keyboard movement is great, doesn't need analog or triggers for that matter I don't see how rumble can make it 'even' either because that doesn't exactly 'help' the person playing, especially on CoD4 since when you get shot at the screen goes red so the rumble doesn't alert you.

As for Crysis being average where do you get that from? Already had high reviews and named one of the greatest shooters ever on Gamespot so no it's not average at all.

Not to say the 360 version of CoD4 is bad but like Team Fortress 2 the colours are noticeably worse, I won't even go into the actual textures and what not.

360 is a great console, however people brushing off PC gaming as pricy and hard to configure/update is just plain annoying.

Well, if IGN said so ;)

We're talking preferences here, and I do think keyboard movement sucks compared to analogue (especially in single player games or anything that involves stealth). I'm heavily into pc clan gaming btw and do love a m&k setup, just not for everything. My experience of Crysis is limited to the demo and i'm prepared to retract my statement if the full game is much better :)

Colours and textures matter for about 5 seconds untill the game starts.

But we're all console fanboys that used to be pc fanboys, so that makes it ok ;)

There's only so many years of decent game droughts a man can take without going to the dark side.

Gears of War is never getting sorted :p They've got their money from it so that will be it.

It started out as a tech Demo and it still is as far as I am concerned, it was made to show off what their game engine can do. I just hope Gears of War 2 changes my opinion.

Fair enough, as for the colours and textures well I semi-agree but I do like the ability to have the visuals looking better if possible. ;)

Give me the year 2003 back to be honest, when Ghost Recon was out on Xbox the clan community was immense, those were the days of console gaming for me. :D (Still the best online experience I've had on console or PC gaming, they were good times to have Live)

Maybe my new TV that comes this week will gimme a new 'spark' for console gaming again, will be picking up Mass Effect most likely so should be good on the big screen.

yeh i know this. i just think atm pc gaming has declined :(

Not for me. For the last 10 months I have been a console gamer and my PC hasn't been on. I got COD4 on both platforms and will now be selling my 360 version and spending 90% of my time playing that online (well, until a PES 2008 patch is released :))

Wtf, I serously don't see the point in owning a 360 (or PS3 for that matter) if you can afford a top end PC. 360 and PS3 are just medium spec PCs, fact.

I have a Wii and a PC because the Wii is actually different. The only reason I would own a 360 is becasue of Halo 3 (which will eventually come to PC I guess), every other game comes out on PC, usually a better version. The games are patchable, tweakable, moddable, editable, etc. The list goes on.

Imo ofc.

I was a PC boy until the 360 came out, the PC cost me mega bucks when I first got one, just over £1k. Thinking I’d be better off finance wise I bought a 360, the console cost me about £500 and then a HDTV £1k! Games were about £50 on release day!

Crazy stuff, although I could never go back to PC gaming, I was always changing PC parts which were expensive, I’d be constantly formatting the thing due to its performance slowly decreasing every day I used it, games were a hit or miss working wise, it never seemed to be a case of inserting the CD and it working straight away! Also when friends came over it wasn't very nice sitting around a 19" TFT, obviously people have their big TV’s hooked up now but I don’t want a PC in my lounge really.

I now much prefer slouching on my big settee in front my of my 42" TV with friends, it's a much better gaming experience IMO.

I have a PC but its rarely used, my laptop is used more, funnily enough whilst I'm sat on my sofa! I only play Footy Manager on it.
