Seen as the fan boys refuse to let this go I may as well put my opinion:
Basically I see it like this Consoles while they may be easy to use and cheaper to buy than a PC seem rather pointless to me as the games are way too expensive and by the time they've been out a month they've already been surpassed in hardware by the PC and at any rate even exclusive console titles don't stay exclusive. However concerning consoles I can only see one exception at the moment and that is the Wii this I have to admit is not a pointless console as it has a different style of gameplay to that of a PC and other consoles making it superior to all other consoles IMHO.

Best thing about console gaming for me, well on Live is the distinct lack of cheating, which riddles the PC online games, for me that's a massive selling point as I tend to play online all the time. Just reading about the hacks and cheats already in COD4 bypassing punkbuster, thankfully we have none of that in our silly console land 
I think that both have their merits tbh, and I have a fairly decent spec watercooled PC as well as all 3 current gen consoles.

Not so many recent games. Look at any list of great pc exclusives - nearly always old titles. I remember games like Grim Fandango, System Shock 2, and Planescape as well as the next guy, but these days the exclusives simply don't come. The variety has taken a nose dive too - we used to get all manner of adventure games, flight/space sims, rpgs, but now it's pretty much rts and fps, and virtually every game worth having appears on a console or two. Sure, if you can't get the hang of a pad or simply prefer a m&k setup, the pc is the obvious choice, but I haven't had a resaon to upgrade my pc in two years. The majority of the really creative games that float my boat appear on consoles almost exclusively.
If it wasn't for TF2 (which is also great on the 360) clan matches, I wouldn't play games on my pc at all. Infact, can anyone here really argue that pc gaming at the moment isn't a country mile away from how great it used to be?
Go into the PC games section and look at all the big game threads in there and then compare them to the ones in here.
For example the COD4/GOW/Crysis threads, pages upon pages long. And you know what half of that is, people asking for config tweaks to make it play or look better lol. I swear half the people in there dont really play games they just bump gfx up to take screenshots "ooo look at this". None of that in here, dvd in drive away you go.

Being able to tweak it to make it look better or run at a better framerate is a bad thing? What's wrong with that? It's not a bad thing at all. On console games if runs crap you're stuck with it, tough luck.
The level of console fanboyism in this thread is sickening. Literally I feel sick at how god damn ignorant some of you are with your blind faith towards consoles.
Lol, I'm failing to see how the topics in there are that much different from those in this Consoles forum?
About 4 or 5 threads on different current big games...with some random questions about Guitar Hero or whatever, only the PC games forum doesnt have several threads about how somebodies "gaming machine" broke for the 7th time in 12 months and they're having to wait 30 days for another.

Thats becuase Console games dont have the choice. If you want, you can just play the PC game as well. And it'll still look better than the console one.
However, you also have the CHOICE to tweak it and improve it still further.
Ignorant is a strong word to use about people you don't even know tbh.
Just because someone has a different opinion to yourself, doesn't make them ignorant.

Does it really matter - do YOU really care what I think? 'Cos I certainly don't give a rats chuff what you think about me, my choices or my preferences.
My PC is better than your console, my console looks nicer, mine can make toast in it's bay drive and mine just works.
If either a) you can't take a joke, b) you won't listen to other peoples viewpoints, c) your narrowmind will not look at alternatives or d) you just want to give negative views all the time then do everyone in this area a favour and sod off back to the PC area where your views, criticisms and moaning will be met with open arms.
I mean, what the hell did you expect sprouting your crap in an area dedicated to console gaming?

Dude I agree with you on that. I'm no fanboi but IMHO you've just lost the arguement by saying whats the point of tweaking the game so that it plays and looks better the fact of the matter is I'd rather play on somthing that has better playabitlity and graphics than somthing thats easier to use and TBH I find using a PC just as easy as using a console so I find the 360 & PS3 pointless compared to a PC however not everyone else finds it a s easy to use a PC and so in their case a console is better. However as I said before the Wii is a new way of playing games and so I can't really compare a PC too it because of this and so this particular console I find has a point to it!
