I really don't know whether to laugh or not...

I got a phone call at work today, with a very distressed mum at the other end. She told me that she was at the vets with the cat that had just been tumble dried for about 20 minutes! :o I suppose the cat must have been napping in there or something.

Turns out that the cat is ok though, stopping at the vets overnight on a drip. I'm not quite sure how hot it would get in 20 mins though, with wet, cold clothes, I suppose it would take a while for it to reach maximum temperature? Must have been really scary for the cat, especially whilst half asleep!

It must be pretty common though, all the cats we've had over the past years have always been quite partial to the occasional cat nap in the washer / dryer?!

The cat is fine, so we may aswell laugh rather than cry, right? And before anyone says... yes, TTIUWP!

Poor cat. I'd soon know if either of my two were stuck in the tumble dryer.

/tries not to laugh at the thought of two pairs of green eyes going round and round and round.... :D

yes I had a friend once who's cat crawled into the drier and dried. She was so sad, I saw her at a restaurant by herself crying, writing an "apology letter" to her cat.

I have 2 wonderful siamese cats and am always very careful to make sure they NEVER get in the drier/washing machine/fridge.....any of those places. It's like caring for babies or osmething...curiosity really did kill the cat.

awww im sorry but i laughed. hope its ok.
i once looked for my cat for hours only to discover id walked past him numerous times as he was asleep in the dryer

My uncle shut his cat in his washing machine over night once. It dumped/wizzed on his clothes :o Luckily he didn't switch the machine on!

my cat got in the washing machine and we did the same! he was only young at the time, 4/5 months old or so? he was spun unconcious so we took him to the vet and we had to leave him in a dark box for a few days while he unspun.

because he was so disorientated we had to feed him with watered down, blended cat food in a syringe (without needle of course) and where it all dripped down his front and the food was full of yeast he stank like marmine for ages.

He was always a bit scatty after that and attacked people at random but all the same he's still going on.. he'll be 20 next year :)

I can just picture your cat sat in a dark box, spinning the opposite way to the way he was spun in the washing machine so he can unspin himself and be magically cured.

That's such a shame, but if you're going to let a cat sleep in a washing machine or tumble dryer, at least make sure the machine is empty before you turn it on. I always keep my doors shut when the machines aren't on, because my cats like to hide.

The cat's only a nipper, so at least it's got youth on its side, should be right as rain tomorrow. I wonder if her fur still fits?
