For me it would have to be Steve Roach - The Other Side. A sort of electronic woodwind instrument is used in this ambient piece to astonishing effect, truly heavenly sounding it is.

I love this tune. Wistful, yet sad. Really nice. I have an album of these guys - got into them ever since seeing 'Ghostdances' by Ballet Rambert, which used their music brilliantly.
