All well and good saying that but how do we pay for it? Taxes?

Why the **** dont we have free education O_O

Scottish government gets a set budget from the UK taxes and our parliament sees fit to spend the money on the population rather than military use or whatever.

Oh and Scottish MPs voted for English fees. :D :p

This is no time for jokes dammit

This smug scottish fella is just asking for it

"Our education system is brilliant, the english people are below me"

It's the weekend "England pays for EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD" thread.

But in the middle of the week, now my life is complete again. I was so worried that we might not have a pointless Jock bashing thread for another two whole days.

I'd be much happier if no-one had to pay for university because education is a valuable thing and all other things being equal I'd prefer a population with the highest levels of education possible. However as afraser2k says Scotland gets given a set budget and with the Scottish Parliament can choose to spend it however it wishes (within certain prescribed limits since some areas are still not devolved).
