Does anyone elses Hiper sound loud on a cold boot?

My machine, well, tis poo, well the case is anyway. When I turn it on in thew morning or whatever, it makes a lot of noise. I cant tell wether its the Hiper PSU or the 120mm fan on the case? its a sorta 'wooom woooom woooom' sound, lika fan not quite rite, but whenever I look insode and fiddle, all I can tell is that both the 120mm and the PSU make noise, but none major loud? Are Hipers known to be loud aswell as problematic?

Careful about opening up a psu, if you can afford a better psu i would. Buy a corsair or seagate or enemax etc. Or even pc power and cooling, totaly overlooked and good products. It should last you many years and power all the latest things as long as u get a decent amount of watts.. to say, power a 2900xt and it should be fairly future proof.
 
My budget is tight (Uni, so technically, all you tax payers buy my computer bits :)) so Im going to go for a new GFX card and hopefully a cheap new case first. If the PSU is still the problem then Im sure I can find £60 from my savings to replace it.

You will end up needing to find more then 60 quid if it goes bang. Hypers have very bad reliability.

The 580w hiper is said to be good for 380ws before it starts getting dangorous. Over 400w and you start riskig you comonents. Getting into 500ws and its probably gone bang lol.
 
My system: 2 HDDs, 2GB RAM, and hopefully an 8800GT within a month or 2 (7800GT atm), and a DVD drive. E6400 with no OC (yet).

Ill just run it until it dies, then replace it... But I think the noise (original point of this thread) is actually comming from my 120mm reverberating through the case...
 
I've been running my Hiper Type-r 580 in my A64, X850XT, Vista .. System for over a year now. ITs the quietest PSU I have had and never once not booted. Can't see why I should ever run into problems with it but then again its an old system so I'm not that bothered.

My Hiper 580 sounded loud when it went thermo-nuclear...been silent since though.

Had one in an old htpc i gave to my parents, was silent as death. The mobo capacitors screamed loudly though....when it fried it.

if it dies it could take out your mobo and anything attached to it at the time.
