I've just installed my MSI NX8800GT, I had a X1950PRO 256mb before.

My 3dmark06 score in my system with the x1950 was 5253 and after installing the NX8800GT it's 5290, WTF, surely it should be 11K+

I uninstalled the ATi drivers using control panel, shutdown then fit the new card, installed the 169.02 forceware drivers, have I missed something?

Make sure your not using any quality settings in the control panel like AA/AF, check that PCIE bus is running at X16 with the system information tab in the Nvidia control panel.

Seasonic 430W

The Nvidia Control Panel System Information>Display tab shows:
BUS: PCI Express x1 Gen2

Is this right?

Thats the problem. It should be x16 not x1. Go into your bios and put the PCI-E bus speed to 100mhz. That should fix it.

or perhaps it won't:

Same boat as me I'm afraid...Chatting to Enermax today, I might have to RMA my PSU...seems it can't time the required power to the GT upon start up quite right so the card throttles itself to prevent damage.
Normally the nVidia Sentinel message pops up " insufficient power to Graphics card, attatch suplimentary power cable!" or something like that.

Its either a GT / nVidia problem or a PSU problem highlighted by using the GT, some GTX owners are having the same issues.

Great club to be in...........NOT !

Mine says, Bus PCI express X16, looks like yours maybe running at X1, this would be a massive performance killer, check you have the card in the right PCIE slot, it should be in the top one, i also notice your board has a 12v PCIE power connector, if all else fails, try plugging a power cable into that, I'm sure some other peps have had this problem to, they maybe able to help.

After you removed the ATi drivers, did you then boot into safe mode and run DriverCleaner pro to get rid of some remnants, before booting normally and installing the Nvidia drivers.

Update:
Just installed the forceware beta drivers 169.12 and got 12018 in 3dmark06 woohoo!
Will try some games now

I made a thread just before you posted this, they both been made at the exact same time.

Oh well mods will delete one.

Just had a quick go on The Witcher and Oblivion all max settings at 1280x1024 no slow down, looks like these drivers have saved the expense of a new psu, happy days!!
