just decided for the fun of it to reinstall Diablo 1, thats not Diablo 2

but it wont work under windows. Every time it gets ot run, it crashes with an error message which doesnt say much. Yes I have tried compatabiliyt mode in every os and all the themes disabled. Any other ideas?

. Just installed it on my laptop, seems to run perfectly even on Vista, so I'm not sure what the problem could be. What exactly is the error message?

it works fine for me on XP, don't even use compatability mode neither.

diablo was great!!! runs fine in xp dunno bout vista, i still have a spare pentium 3 with win98 i keep for playing xcom apocolypes lol, ne1 remember that

I remember getting into hot sweats trying to kill the butcher on the first floor down

was so funny being chased all over the place with zero chance of killing him until I had levelled a bit more

i can relate to that lol, my techique was to leave him, go down to lvl 3 clear that, come back up and slaughter him

I rmemeber a room several levels down where you get to it and its like a big square room full to the brim with enemies, one in every square. I stuck a couple of firewalls at the entrance and they all killed themselves trying to get to me. That was satisfying!

is there anyway of upscaling the resolution on Diablo 2? 640x480 is a bit cack.

D2 supports 800x600 max, since the expansion was released I believe. The latest patch should give you an option in the menu.

Try enabling win95/98 compatibility in a shortcut to the .exe.

really??? wicked, beats 640x480! this might be worth playing again. i never got as far as *** forest level. (third level in i think or jungle whatever it was)

It was the 3rd zone. It got a bit tough from them on but was pretty easy enough to do at the same time. You get to duel Mephisto at the end of it. Next zone is some weird outta world area where eventually you dual Diablo himself which them moves you on to the last Area where it is pretty interesting/fun to play.
