i have an error on my 160gig HITACHI DESKSTAR HDD, O&O defrag is detecting a disc error, so if i run the cmd chkdsk c: /f /r and reboot the disk checker runs and once back into windows O&O still detects an error. I am not experiencing any problems at the moment though.

i have run the hitachi drive fitness test and the error code i got is 0x00 which i think means there is no errors.

can someone please suggest what i can do to fix this.

cheers

It could be a problem with the O&O software. This is why I don't trust 3rd party programs to defrag.

Do you get errors when running a windows defrag?

i just done a defrag with windows defrag and no errors reported, the O&O software defrags ok its when i run the 'check drive' tool i get the error

i used perfectdisk before this but i stopped using it as it was rebooting my pc eveytime i analysed the c drive, it never used to do this.

edit: i just installed perfectdisk 8 and i analysed drive c and when it got to 100% it reboots my pc for no reason, and once windows restarts nothing happens.
