*****THE OFFICIAL***** MASS EFFECT THREAD

Got the LE on Friday, beat it in 12hours but I'm definitely going to play through again. Can't wait for ME2 already. Hopefully the DLC will let you access colonies or even a bit of earth. Excellent story but not as good as KOTOR1.

I just finished it. I was left somewhat breathless by the ending - simply the most incredible ending I've seen. Never seen anything like it, and enjoyed every bit of it.

Dont you get different ending depending on your actions?
Quite sure you do...I'll be testing that out tomorrow because I'm sure I have savegames near the final bits. You have to make a few important decisions so I'm hoping those are the turning points.

It was a grind? You didn't want to play it any more? No ****...playing that ridiculous amount of hours no wonder. A bit OTT you think?..and a sure fire way to ruin any game.

Well when I say weekend, I meant Friday/Sat/Sun/Mon evening. So thats about 6 hours a night :o

It's the only way I get immersed in these sort of games. Plus I can't afford to keep hold of games for months like I used to do, they lose value way to quick nowadays.

Having to go through narative over and over again when you reload is grinding my gears now.

Why the hell can't there be something simple like a click of a button to skip to the end - I know most of the script by heart now!

Good game, but jeez the flaws and annoyances are like damn canyons.

No when browsing the galaxy map occasionally you will get a transmission from another admiral who gives you the odd side quest. That's Bishop.

Just finished it; clocked in at around 25 hours.

Best game I've played I think; period. There are a few annoying game mechanics that BioWare can never seem to stop messing up - but it didn't ruin it one bit. Wow - what an ending :D.

Expansions will be interesting. No way will it be a downloadable thing via the marketplace. However I can see things like armour/weaps and maybe side missions added to the game as those don't require cinematics. Most side missions aren't exactly detail heavy and use a lot of repetitive elements too.

The Oblivion expansions were all downloadable and some of them added 30+ hours of gameplay, so there's no reason why Mass Effect expansions couldn't be the same.

True, but you have to remember that large expansions like Shrouded Isles didn't have the rich cinematic scenes that gamers may possibly want in an expansion. For me anyway I'd prefer an expansion to have cinematic moments rather than be composed strictly of missions.

I really, really want to know how much capacity ME took up on our DVD9's...

***Minor Early Plot Spoilers ***** (but they are very minor, you learn them in the early stages)

First of all...I'm absolutely loving this game...but...

I'm getting a distinct feeling of deja-vu between this and KOTOR.

We have the Council instead of the Jedi Council who try to keep order in the galaxy.
We have "Biotics" instead of Force Powers (with throw, stasis)
We have the "fallen to the darkside" bad guy who has some massively powerful ship, can pursuade people to join him and is trying to resurrect some ancient beings to take over the universe
We have people chosen by the Council who are special, but they're called "Spectre's" not "Jedi"
And we're chasing this guy around the galaxy on our ship.

Like I say, its all very familiar, its like KOTOR without the license ;) This is *not* a bad thing, I'm still giving this GOTY, but still, just wondered if it was only me...

Press X during conversations to skip it!

Going to save literally hours in future play-thoughs. Must have mashed every other button on the controller trying to skip :D

Started a second playthrough. Its wicked as i can play as my previous character with all the abilities and levels! Absolutely blitzing through the game at level 42 on Eden Prime!

Josh

Wtf? that's nuts

Trying it now, only managed to get my first character up to level 48, so this should make the slog to level 60 a little more feasible.

Bloody hell, she even has the same armour and weapons :D Whacked it up to the highest difficulty to make up for it ;)

My copy has arrived today, ive clocked up just over 2 hours. So far very impressed, its got a great story, and i cant wait to find out what happens next. The combat is pretty good, seems a lot like GOW but with more depth.
There seems to be an awful lot of side quest ive found and itll take forever to do them all, but they all seem fun.

I'm about twenty hours in, but I'm getting the feeling that I've not done some of the story in the 'right order'. If you get my drift.

The middle part of the game has been a bit of a slog sadly, but I'm getting closer to pushing the plot on a bit tomorrow.
