The Benifits of Decent Cooling on a 8800GT (Accelero S1)

Does that clock pass crysis gpu benchmark test ?
Also have you got rivatuner installed i have a bfg oc and max shader seems to be 1728 if i am setting on rivatuner and use ati tool to scan i get no errors but i so see corruption on the 3d image if i uninstall ati tool it can clock higher think there's some issues going on here.

Dont have crysis...yet

I've just been using Rivatuner to monitor temps. Clocking in Ati Tool. Haven't noticed any problems with either program TBH.

I havn't tested max shaders or memory yet so I'll get back to you.

Just got my BFG OC2 and wish to overclock it as to get more frames out of crysis and push it a bit. What vga cooler is recommended atm, S1, or Durob?

Also does Rivatuner work in Vista x64, as its complaining about a driver problem  I'm needing something to monitor temps, as I have had a few crashes playing Bioshock, but that could be the 500w giving up....

Thought i'd post these pics of how a 120mm fan has been retro fitted to the accelero s1

Looks the bee's knees!
It's a PITA that doing this stuff could lead to probs regarding voiding warranties etc.
You're doing the card a favour by cooling it better!
Would do the same but it's a shame I need both my PCI slots!

I must be the only one that had problems:rolleyes:

Tried fitting an S1 today, it was a nightmare, the RAM sinks did NOT want to stay on the chips, even with some Akasa thermal tape. One of the heat pipes was to close to the last RAM sink, and the plastic clips you have to clamp on are a terrible idea. If you fit them near the ends of the S1 unit, which you have to do due to the RAM sinks it bends the pcb. GG.

Stuff that, can anyone suggest a better solution, preferably one WITHOUT RAM sinks:(

Good point.

I've now calmed down (;)) so if I can get the RAM sinks to stay put, was thinking thermal epoxy...I'll give it another stab, and if it doesn't come quietly then i'll chuck those monging plastic clips in the bin.

Anyone got Thermaltake Duorbs running yet, would like to see some temps. Dont know which to go for yet, looks like it might be the S1 with S2.

Just fit my S1 & the turbo fans with a fan speed controller to my GT. Set the fan speed to low.
Before the S1 & fan temp was 90 in RivaTuner after playing COD 4 for 10mins
After the S1 & fan temp wont move above 60:D

Thats mad:D

Can anyone answer my fan question?

my yate loons run with the sticker facing the way air flow goes, infact im sure its the same on all pc fans.

ie: stiker facing gpu / pcb

and the double sided tape isnt mad, the fact i couldnt find more than one tie wrap, meant i used it for 2 days witht he fan tied on with string lol

Mate your a life saver, been looking everywhere for that answer:)

I didn't say mad because its a bad idea, its more that using the thermal tape it didn't hold, I never tried the stuff that came on the RAM sinks, it might have been best to leave well alone:D;)
