Was Crysis Overhype?

YES

1) Late

2) Buggy (if going by info in the CEO's interviews was accurate and not BS) as none of it seems true for now, with Quad/SLI and CPU Dependancy and named Hardware running at Max settings.

3) Basically for me its FarCry with newer Graphics and Aliens.

Very much so.

It isn't *that* pretty to look at - i've seen better. CoD4 is/was miles miles more fun to play.

It's a simple case of a company getting a good screw off the hardware manufacturers for making a game that's so overhyped yet badly coded that everyone rushes to upgrade.

Yeah thats my thinking to.

Penryn an a GTX (you Tube)

Really BS.

I agree, cod4 looks just as good but runs happily on my old 7900GS on good settings!

crysis is just far cry 2

Quad core tweaked ,

Na.
I've been running task manager a lot while playing it and it does use all four cores at once, just not to 100% as it's the most gpu-limited game I've ever seen in my life. I don't think it's over-hyped either, it's brilliant. :p

I'm sorry but you're utterly incorrect. I love both games but Crysis' graphics are light-years ahead, then again I'm not playing it on a 7900GS at what is probably low/med settings. Blame your hardware, not the game.

crysis is just far cry 2
I swear some of you have only played the demo. Get out of the jungle for God's sake.

Great thread.

Another winner from Easy.

Also no IMO it wasn't overhyped, have you completed it Easy?, it's a great gaming experience and well worth it, just because you got owned ;) and it didn't utilize that quad as much as you would have hoped no need for sour grapes :p

He is not incorrect, its his opinion over yours.

If the Game is GPU limited then something is wrong as it was written to be CPU Dependant, and there is enough screens posted to show most dont get Dual or Quads using 1 core enough never mind the rest, I have no idea why some get 2/4 Cores loaded.

The Crysis Forums are full of it too and its public know how now.

If Cevat Yeril was a Politician and told you all the BS he did in every interview over the year, we would now be calling for his resignation.

The game does not look like it was to be, and it wont run on hardware he claimed it would.

But hey what do I care, its your money to spend if you like to be told BS. ;)

lol

Its not Grapes.

Its a Great game.

Its not utilising my uber rig!

Only thing that does...is Video editing production work.

No gain from Multi core for the mainstream...Thats my point.

We all fell for it.

Wrong, he's incorrect. Crysis looks miles better than COD4, and this is coming from someone who adores COD4 and has completed it twice now. To say that COD4 looks even remotely as good as Crysis is really just wrong unless you're playing Crysis on low/med settings, at which point it actually does look crap.

How is there something wrong if the game is GPU limited? It's not written to be CPU-dependant at all, it's written to utilise CPUs, but it also just happens to have the most complex graphics engine to date with the highest resolution textures we've ever seen in a video game, period.

Honestly, your post makes me wonder if you've even played it.

it was written to be CPU Dependant
Oh, and please cite your source for this utter tripe. ;)

Cevat Yerli would actally make a very very good "Politition" with all that BS he apparantly spouts.

Yeah I think it was overhyped, it's basically far cry with a nanosuit, some of the later levels were interesting but very short, allot shorter then far cry. :(

I didn't. I didn't buy into a Quad for Crysis unlike many many others. I'm still on my Uber C2D :D.

I do NO video editing, but as predicted my C2D keeps up with all Quads clock for clock because frankly only a few support quad yet alone utilize it properly.

Was you expecting Sega Rally or something? Did you not watch any of the hundreds of trailer and preview videos?

The game is exactly what they said it would.

That's because most games out now are GPU-limited, the ultra-rare ones that actually support multithreading anyway. Supreme Commander would be the only real gaming test for quad cores at this time.

Ulfhedjinn, again your incorrect, you cannot make your opinions the Gospel.

He has his and you have yours, I can add I think Crysis looked like a Cartoon at Medium and was not playable above that at high RES's as its a a buggy POS.

CoD4 was build on CoD2 but it sure looks great and runs really, really well (thats all that matters).

CoD4 was not hypeds up that high, lots though "ooh noo its an old engine, will look crap" well they got a pleasant suprise its nice and in parts photo real IMO.

On the other hand, Crysis was like Halo3, and so hyped up and basically its not to hot IMO and mamny others.

If Tom or anyone wants to read the BS (not apparent) from the Crytek CEO, I will be glad to go get every interview I scattered throughtout this forum and put in 1 thread, then they can take it or leave it. :)
