'Muhammad' teddy teacher arrested

Judge by actions, not words. Whether or not they say they implement Islamic Law is neither here nor there - what should be looked at is if their Law is actaully Islamic or not. Whether the rulings they make are those that would be allowed in Islam or not.

No, I think I'll judge on BOTH thankyouverymuch. Sudans legal system claims to be based on Islamic Law and I have no reason to doubt them.

I expect if you sat down with Sudanese Lawmakers and tried to tell them their laws weren't Islamic you would be on the losing end of the argument.

I'm not qualified to have that discussion with you of course, but I am qualified to read what they say their law is based on and take them at their word. Then watch the results and judge them.

The ruling by the court is being talked about as a ruling that is valid in Islam when, imo, it is not.

I think maybe we may be getting lost in Pedant Avenue :)

TBH im against anything that says its a ruling as to how a religion MUST be followed. I see religion as a set of guide lines and morals by which the follower of that religion should live there life, it is up to the follower to read and interpret the message. Others can give their understanding of these teachings but no interpretation of the message should be set in stone.

Well we will find out the ruling soon, i just hope common sense/understanding and forgiveness prevails.

I generally agree with what you have posted - "each to their own"!

It's also a bit irrational to think "let's kill all muslims" because if that happens muslims will want to kill us too (after all they have every right to exist as much as us)....and where would that get us?

I haven't read this entire thread but here are my current feelings:

1. After checking what the Sudan is good for on Wikipedia (Oil, Gold and so on...) I suggest we invade and grab some more resources.

2. Set up a website that shows all kinds of items called Muhammad.

Seriously, how the hell can naming a Teddy Bear after a child's name cause so much fun.

Nuke 'em from orbit.

She's been found guilty and sentenced to 15 days in jail, avoided the lashings though.

Oh and then after she's served it she's gonna be deported........bet she is well gutted about that

Its all a bit of a storm in a tea cup is'nt it?

15 days in jail for demonstrating to class of kids what democracy is and calling a teddy Mo

And then she's deported - let hope this acts a sign to any other like minded individual who feels they can teach and educate a mainly Islamic country.

Just leave them all to it !

I feel that it's only fair that we should reciprocate the sentiment and kick out any Sudanese National that breaks our laws! Let's see the collection of muppets that we refer to as a government do that!

What a complete joke. Stupid woman in some respects, but hey every other bakalaka in the country is called Mohammed why is this not blasphemy?

They all need to watch Life of Brian, and get a SOH.

I was reading in the London Lite, and some dude said that "is it was said unintentially and was a mistake, then fair enough, if she meant it to represent the prophet then she should die" here mate take this WMD and shove it up your japseye ;)

I hope we cut off all links US etc and all and dont buy a single more drop of oil from them, and then put put a big glass bowl over the country like the Simpsons Movie, and have Mohammeds Bowl embossed on the outside.

Some people in this thread are so ignorant it defies belief. Can I just say that for the record I don't agree with a large proportion of Islamic beliefs. However I do feel sorry for some of the Muslim members of the board (suprised they've actually stuck around having to read some of the **** some of you type.) You can't just encapsulate Islam as a whole upon reflection of this issue. It's clearly not fair to brandish everyone who happens to be Muslim in the same way. This case is more to do with the backward logic of the inhabitants of the country of Sudan and the way they are twisting the religious issues in a unjust, inhumane way. Many less developed countries are going to be screwed up like this - not necessarily in relation to religion either. You only have to read the comments from UK Muslim organisations to realise that it's unfair to brand the entire worldwide Muslim community as backward and that we should "wipe them out". The irony of making such statements is bewildering.

Of course they never do that in Britain - do they?

We are the Judean People's Front crack suicide squad! Suicide squad, attack!
:p

Clever judge really, it's slap on the wrist for what some call a serious offence (thousands of bloodthirsty muslims on the streets of london anybody?) and it pacifies the fanatics who saw it as plot from the west to cause "an insult to islam".

I don't think she'll mind being deported after she gets out either.

Logical responce aside, they do seem to be stuck in the stone age. It was a bloody teddy bear ffs you bunch of inbred zealots, not something hideously offensive like a piece of paper with a drawing on it ....
