25 and Over vs under 25's?

Erm.. last I checked you can't change your name "in" tf2.. Although there was something in the changelog about not requiring the overlay I'm pretty sure it will still take it from the community.
The term steamId is a bit ambiguous because valve started using the term to also mean the name of your community profile. i.e. the constant name that represents you on the community. My steam username is TheRealZogger (as zogger was taken), while my steam community id is Zogger (I signed up in the beta of the community so those pesky zogger imposters didn't get to register before me). My original steam id is a number as described in oL's post. My display name on steam community is also Zogger but that is entirely different to all of the above. You can change this at any time and it will be used as your in game name in TF2, as well as the name that's displayed on yours / other people's friends lists.

Jeesh, its no wonder I am not getting any work done today when I can't even keep track of Steam/Game UserID/Name stuff.

I should just go home and read a book. A nice simple one with pictures. Actually, one with ONLY pictures.

Bascically, I think I will appear to people as either "severedbits", "eyetrip" or "ffallic", though I am really trying to get away from using that last one, and jsut stick with eyetrip for everything. Want it changed on here too. Who can do that for me?

I would recommend Dr. Seuss.

Whatever you do don't post a thread in GD asking for a username change as you'll end up with a random username ;).

Actually do that :p

The main thing you want to change in steam is your display name. Can't remember where to change it though. I think if you go to your friends list then click 'my control panel' you can change it there.

Agreed, probably not much point on the password as it's a private unpublished server. However it wouldn't let me create it without one for some reason. I'll try and remove it laters on.

It'll cost us another fiver if we want to make it public, but we can get that as a bolt on upgrade.

My understanding is that all servers are published to the master list and that being private or public is dictated solely by whether a password is enforced or not. So in order to remove the password, you'd unfortunately need to stump up more cash. :(

I'll also be on around 9-10 tonight.

Btw maybe an idea to exchange steam friends/xfire etc so it's easier to communicate/join games? Just a thought, here's mine:

Steam: ollie111
Xfire: ollie111

Added to my friends list, along with everyone who's quoted their Steam ID. If anyone needs to add me, mine is s-p[at]dsl[dot]pipex[dot].com . I'm from the old days where username equals the e-mail address you signed up with. :(

OK, I will download TF2 from Steam when I get in tonight for Sun, though I don't think I will be around until 9ish...

I might have been a bit hopeful
My TF2 download from Steam is racing along at 2.1Kb  at this rate Im pushing it for Sun!!!
My login for Steam is 3dg3d3m0n, but as for anything else, first time I have used Steam so haven't set up anything yet....

Close steam down and delete the clientregistry.blob file. Then restart steam and it should attempt to connect to a different server with hopefully a better rate of transfer. You'll find this particular file in the root of your steam folder, which for me is E:\Games\Steam :)

Try it now, I've just edited the CFG file to remove the line:

// Server password
sv_password bringonsummer

Randal, is there a way to specify priority to certain people?

Not that I can see. I guess you'd have to have some kinda IP based filter or something, unless you do it manually? I'm going to install the Mani Admin plugin on the box when I get home tonight (no ftp access through our proxy at work) - maybe that'll have something like that in it.

Thats a bit better, 31-40Kbs - Sun should be on now and maybe the end of tonight ;)

Cheers for that suggestion - appreciated...
