Whilst I'm aware that it's probably structurally sound and goes pretty well, it looks an absolute heap as it stands :(

Apart from the wheels and the twin pipes at the back that would made one hell of a sleeper.
You mean the "twin" exhaust that has a flange on the end of it for (I presume) meeting up with a downpipe?

Yeah, that really gives the game away that its a performance motor :/

Whilst I don't like the rusty look, or the suspension setup, I do like the exhaust, brilliant idea, and it would make one brilliant sleeper if it didn't have those wheels/suspension.

Air ride is awesome. Just leave it at stock height and nobody will know any better!

To me it would, or at least it would signal that something is not quite right. But I see your point its not all bling and would go unnoticed by a lot of people.

TBH, if I saw a car COVERED in surface rust like that, I'd automatically assume it was packing.

Much like I assume every Nova is running at least an XE.

True, being adjustable does have advantages.

As for the 'paint' though, it'd have to be painted badly to fully look like a sleeper.
Too much decent paint and it'd look clean and new etc. so would look like it's got something hiding under the bonnet.
All that rust looks intentional (I know it is), so again it looks suspect.

I'd prefer it with properly aged paint; the kind of patina that you can only get through a car being used and abused for 25 years...

One thing I have always wondered, is how does the paintwork "feel". I mean, I know what normal car paint feels like, I know what matt/satin paintwork feels like, and I know what a rusty peice of metal feels like, but does that pseudo-rust feel anything like actual rust?

That's actual rust...

It just feels a little rough/grainy...
