Can't really doubt that kind of source, I bet the Inq. wish they had my luck with sources.

Ah, I remember 'Rampage' (the internal name for the 5th generation of 3dfx). It, amongst other factors sank them. Lets hope ATi/AMD don't go the same way. They really need to start releasing competitive parts.

right before 3dfx went bust they would spend £20 k on company lunches and other unecessary expendetures. its a shame, as they were (at points) really pushing forward technology

Can you imagine games which would require another 80-90% of the GTX power. Thats not nessaseraly 2x GTXs working almost 100% though, as we are talking 80-90% more memory, bandwidth etc. I cant see games needing that much power for ages therefore i doubt they will make a card that good even if they good. It will probably be held back from its true potential.

If they can make a card 90% faster they will, I'm pretty sure it will be used to its full optential at high res in crysis, especially trying to turn on AA, deffenitly would be used.

Yeah, crysis lol, were going to need all that power to run it at very high in vista at a nice rez and i think that's what Nvidia should be aiming for.

Just think how long its going to be untill we can run Crysis at 1680x1050 or higher, very high/DX10 with 16xAA/AF :eek:

They're just dividing up an architecture that's already very modular, I don't see what the point is. Just seems like they're gonna marketing-gimmick the crap out of it. I will be reserving my judgment for benchmarks just like any other sane person, I'm just not holding too much hope for this. Seems like AMD's take on multi-core CPUs is really influencing this design.

Then again, I could be totally wrong, and one of these GPUs could be the equivalent of two 3870s and it might scale 90-100% for each added GPU, but that doesn't seem very likely. Even if it does, all signs point to 'power whore'.

GeForce 9's gonna be to GeForce 8 as GeForce 7 was to GeForce 6 isn't it? (i.e. evolutionary improvements such as adding extra shaders) so it'll probably be a pretty strong design anyway. Ahah, 256 shader, 32 ROPS and 56 TMUs using a 448-bit (logical next step up from 384) bus would be totally unstoppable. Expensive but unstoppable.

Hoo all this speculating is making me hungry.

I find myself tempted to just grab it simply cos of the GTX I missed out when it 1st appeared and look how long that lasted and still going strong.

Id pay £500 on it

The cards obviously gonna be built to simply excel crysis.

No gfx card is worth 500 imo.

Been there seen it and wore the T shirt.

Never again will I spend such a hideous amount of money on a GFX card.

I was one of those people who grabbed an GTX at launch last November, the abuse people were metting out about it was incredible, with hindsight it was a great purchase, a bargain in actual fact considering the fun I've had with it... :cool:

Na i doubt it. I dont think they will change much because well... it already looks like its getting close to photo real. They will probably optimize the engine more add a few extra features, hopefuly more effects and physics to things.By the time crysis 2 and 3 are out the hardware should be running it quite smoothly.

Crysis 3 if they have one wont run smooth on a 9800 series card, doubt crysis 2 will!, Crysis is far from photo realistic there is so many improvements that would need to be made to get that far you just could not write them all down.
