"Misfire, Unload!"

a whole platoon? :o thats gotta be a pretty big round..

Well, I'm going by what he told me. he was the Platoon Sergeant (The West Somerset Yeomanry), and never forgave himself for surviving when all of the men under him didn't.

The incident happened in Dekkerswald, Holland 5th November 1944 :( , perhaps theres something on Google listed somewhere? (I've not looked)

Has anyone seen the idiot terrorist experiencing this? He drops a shell into what looks like a 60mm hand-held mortar, but upon hitting the bottom of the actual tube the thing goes off. He gets what he deserves though.

When I was in the Army my unit was supporting a group on a sergeants course. It was "somewhere in Wales". We were lying down either side of a small metalled road and the guy behind me popped a bomb into a 60mm hand-held and it failed to go off.
Quite unconcerned he tipped it out of the mortar. The round rolled a few feet across the road and came to rest touching my foot. After what seemed like an eternity we got the order to move on. After we had travelled about 15 feet the bomb exploded and knocked all of us to the ground.
None of us were injured but we ALL literally wet ourselves.
