Top Gear Returns Sunday 7th October

You could accuse any program thats not live as being equally invalid but the real point is how much do they exagerate or just plain lie.

I dont doubt they do two takes on plenty of scenes

You can tell Lewis is for real because he had allready ended up defeating himself, I would expect TG to recognise the guy needs no script

Damp is actually worse than wet.

lol

They dont use proper treaded tyres on an F1 car and if he lapped a slightly damp TG, it makes little difference imo

The fact is he was the same speed as button who did a dry lap.

Does hamilton lap circuits in f1 in the wet the same speed as someone can do them i nthe dry.

The answer is no, theres no question he will of done a fast lap its the fact its done in the wet when the law of pysics wouldnt allow it.

Anyway im just an armchair fan who has questioned what TG churn out everyweek, which imo is a scripted show, the lap times, the car reviews (driving that old car straight across the junction because they couldnt stop) errrm scripted *cough* and the fact the races across continents are scripted *cough*

too many ppl watch whats on tv and take it as gospel.

a mate whos a professional racing driver and has raced with hamilton said it was a fix straight away as well, as hes a professional racing driver and is qualified to know what hes talking about i'll side with him even though i questioned it myself to start with anyway!

RACIST!

The stig has done hundreds of laps in that car and said on other occasions that there is no way to get any more time out of the car yet hamilton has a few laps with it and nearly beats the time.

That is assuming that the Stig is as good a driver as LH. Which he clearly isn't.

It would be a pretty ridiculous stunt to falsify his lap time, if and when it was leaked out it would not only hurt TGs reputation but LHs as well. Far too much conspiracy theorism going on here I think.

Some people really do have way too much time on their hands to be worrying about these things. :o

It's just a TV show, get a grip. :p

I got the impression from watching lh lap that they had combined various laps into the footage. Ie. it wasnt all one lap/sequence, they probably did the most entertaining parts but I expect the time is fine.
The track wasnt especially wet. Personally even on worn tyres it takes a lot of rain for me to seriously notice a loss of grip in a car and this is a normal car we're discussing so I reckon my opinion is valid especially when my own car is equally crap :D
He couldnt spin it in 2nd for example, any half decent car could do that so it wasnt that wet and the cars in no need of TC, etc

I like how in some shots he achieved a slight drift, not in a bad way but just perfectly putting the car on a pivot through the corner. The stigs lap demonstrates that even more, anyone got the video of it?

BTW is alonso the Stig?

Remember when the Stig caught the train to london??

Well when The Stig was on the train, he picked up a copy of the Metro, with Lewis Hamilton celebrating a race win on the back of it. Upon seeing Hamilton, he threw the paper away in apparent disgust

The Stig is a white male with dark hair

The Stig has driven Alonso's Renault F1 car around the track previously

Alonso lives in Oxford, as does Jeremy Clarkson

When Alonso took part in his first test for McLaren, he wore plain white overalls and a plain white helmet

When Alonso first moved to Oxford, the original Stig was "killed off" by driving a Jag off an aircraft carrier

Sounds plausable to me???

if it was Alonso we would have found out by now, as he cant keep he`s mouth shut .
the stig is more than likely some second rate driver that got time on his hands to do the series, i doubt its anyone that won anything big in motor sport

what a farce over a lap time.

yes he is good but in severeal newspapers during the week in the lead up to sundays airing of the episode it was stated with pics iirc of lewis getting the track swept to get rid of surface water. but mind you this could have been for the oil that the vauxhall leak out.

but taking nothing away from the boy he is good he did finish 2nd in the world championship in his rookie year. so he does have talent and does have something special.

roll on next weeks top gear.

There are some amusing extras on the website. Two extra bits from the Lewis Hamilton segment and three of the sections from the news that weren't aired. With JC saying to member of the audience "So you'd rather eat a pie than gobble him [James May]" you can understand why. Also James May politely(*) suggesting that JC stop talking about a particular subject, which everyone will now want to know about.

* a lie

Im going to open a can of worms......

I think hamiltons time was a lie

To say hamiltons lap was smooth is OTT imo as he had a terribl start and bogged down, cut the hammerhead and messed up the last corner, it was hardly a "wet" lap either

it was damp at best.

you cant def the law of pysics, thinking hamilton can corner as quick i nthe wet as another formula 1 driver can i nthe dry is absolutely stupid.
I suggest you go away and watch some wet F1 footage, in particular; Donnington Park 1993, Jerez 1996 and Fuji 2007.
There are also some videos of Hamilton in wet Karting races where he makes the rest of the field look they are driving in reverse gear.

Yada, yada.
A mate who is racing what cars professionally? - Banger racing for a couple hours on a Sunday.

For sure we shouldn't believe everything we see on TV but at least have a robust, qualified argument to back up your opinion.
What you have posted is just finger in the air rubbish.

So hes as good as two world champions in the dry then is he ;)

Who is your mate and what qualifications does he have in professional race driverering?
